Rest-of-Season Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Pauley got some eyes on him after a 20-20 season in the minors in 2023, but those numbers have not followed him as he moved up the ladder in the minors. Pauley came up to the Marlins in 2025 and showed a nice swing with excellent plate discipline but lacked the power fantasy managers like to see from their cornermen. The Marlins saw it too as they used Pauley at third, first, second, and even centerfield last year. He is not everyday material, but he could be a decent strong side platoon option for the Marlins on the corner and an option for deeper NL-Only leagues simply looking for plate appearances to get into the lineup. There is not much visible upside here because of the lack of any standout skill other than his defensive range and his willingness to accept walks. Read Past Outlooks
Sitting against lefty
Pauley is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.
Analysis
The left-handed-hitting Pauley has hit the bench for two of the Marlins' first three games, with both of his absences coming against southpaws. Heading into Opening Day, Pauley looked like he could be headed for a timeshare at third base with Connor Norby, but the Marlins should have starting roles against right-handed pitching available at the the corner-infield spots for both players while Christopher Morel (oblique) is on the shelf.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Pauley has put up impressive stats since getting drafted in the 13th round in 2022, and he surprisingly appears to be on the cusp of making the Padres' Opening Day roster. A lefty-hitting 23-year-old capable of playing the outfield and the infield, Pauley's raw power and speed grade out as average (50-grade) at best, but he's gotten the absolute most of his abilities thus far. A lot of his strong performances have come while he was older than the average prospect in a league and/or in a hitting-friendly environment, but his strikeout rate has always been below 22 percent, and he is a career .302 hitter. Pauley also gets strong reports for his makeup, and his defensive versatility will help him get at-bats.
