Rest-of-Season Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Sanchez opened the season with the Orioles, his sixth organization since 2021, serving as the reserve catcher. He struggled to a .100/.200/.100 line over 13 games before landing on the IL in late April with right wrist inflammation. After returning in mid-June, Sanchez rebounded with a .295/.348/.574 line across 16 games, but a sprained right knee sent him back to the IL and ended his season. Defensive limitations continue to weigh down his profile, yet Sanchez's power remains legitimate. He produces elite exit velocity, driving an elite hard-hit rate and a respectable barrel rate. While strikeouts and durability cloud his outlook, Sanchez's offensive upside still gives him a chance to contribute at the major league level. Read Past Outlooks
Launches another homer
Sanchez went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during the Brewers' 9-7 extra-inning loss to the Blue Jays on Tuesday.
Analysis
Sanchez extended Milwaukee's lead to 4-2 in the seventh inning after he took Braydon Fisher deep to left field for a solo homer. Sanchez has homered in back-to-back games and is up to five long balls on the year, which is tied with Jake Bauers for most on the Brewers. Sanchez has been serving as the team's backup catcher behind William Contreras for most of the season but was the DH against Toronto, and the former should continue to see more playing time until at least mid-May, when Christian Yelich (groin) is estimated to return from the 10-day injured list.

Sanchez inked a one-year contract with Milwaukee for 2024 and split his playing time between catcher and designated hitter. There was no real surprise in his results, as he clubbed 11 home runs but had a .220/.307/.392 slash line and 27.1 percent strikeout rate. He's hit 30 homers despite inconsistent playing time over the past two seasons, but he doesn't have much upside outside of the power production. Sanchez's .717 OPS against lefties wasn't great, but his past success versus southpaws could mean he still receives some opportunities as a platoon option. He inked a one-year, $8.5 million deal with Baltimore, where he'll serve as Adley Rutschman's backup and a designated hitter option against opposite-handed pitching.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Option decision incoming
Sanchez's contract with the Brewers has a $7 million mutual option with a $4 million buyout for 2025.
Analysis
Mutual options are rarely picked up by both parties, so Sanchez is likely headed for free agency. The 31-year-old's buyout was based on the number of days he spent on the active roster in 2024. Sanchez saw a lot of his opportunities for the Brewers against left-handed pitching, though his .717 OPS versus lefties during the regular season was only marginally better than his. 686 OPS against righties. A bench role likely awaits in 2025, regardless of where he ends up.
