Rest-of-Season Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Mitchell's season was derailed by injuries once again, as he appeared in just 25 games after reinjuring his shoulder while rehabbing a left oblique strain. Shoulder surgery in June ended his year. After being productive when healthy the prior two seasons, Mitchell managed only a .580 OPS with no home runs and three steals. That came despite career-best exit velocity and hard-hit rates, as his contact issues remained. At 27 years old, Mitchell still has the raw tools for power and speed coveted in fantasy, but durability is now a major concern. He has endured three straight injury-filled seasons, including two involving his left shoulder and a hand fracture during 2024 spring training. The repeated absences have cost him valuable reps needed to refine his contact. If healthy, Milwaukee should find him a role, but he has yet to show he can stay on the field. Read Past Outlooks
Back in action Saturday
Mitchell (illness) is starting in center field and batting seventh against the Yankees on Saturday.
Analysis
Mitchell was scratched due to an illness Wednesday and didn't start Friday, though he did enter the latter contest in the fourth inning after Brandon Lockridge exited with a knee injury. That was a good sign that Mitchell had shown improvement, and the veteran outfielder is now feeling well enough to return to the starting lineup. He'll look to snap an 0-for-10, four-game stretch at the plate.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2024
2023
2021
Mitchell sustained a hand fracture late in the spring and didn't make his season debut until July, which has become an unfortunate theme early in his career, as he was limited to 19 games in 2023 due to a torn labrum in his shoulder. The 2020 first-round pick was once again productive when available and had a .255/.342/.469 slash line with eight home runs and 11 stolen bases in 69 contests. His strikeout rate remained high at 31.7 percent, though that's an improvement from his first two seasons (which is a sample size of only 47 games), and he also improved his walk rate to 11.3 percent. Mitchell has showcased his prospect pedigree when healthy, but it's unclear if that production is sustainable for a full season given he's played in just 88 games across the past two seasons. The Brewers have plenty of outfield depth with Blake Perkins, Sal Frelick, Jackson Chourio and Christian Yelich, so Mitchell could have his workload managed even if he's playing well and has earned an everyday role. Between the crowded outfield and the injury concerns, Mitchell is a risky bet for fantasy managers in 2025. The payoff if that bet hits, however, could be a 20-20 outfielder in a strong lineup.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Getting discussed in trade talks
Mitchell's name has come up in trade talks involving the Brewers, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
Analysis
Murray notes that he's unsure how willing the Brewers would be to trade Mitchell, especially since the club is reportedly seeking left-handed bats and Christian Yelich's status is uncertain due to back woes. Mitchell missed most of 2023 following shoulder surgery and didn't make his season debut in 2024 until July because of a fractured finger. He's under team control through 2028.
