Andres Chaparro

26-Year-Old First Baseman1B
Washington Nationals AAA
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Chaparro is a familiar story of players who have put up some solid minor league numbers but have failed to bring that production to the big league level. Chaparro hit .328/.405/.572 with 23 homers, 76 runs, and 85 RBIs in 2024 in the minors and .275/.384/.577 in 216 plate appearances for the Nationsl Triple-A club in 2025. Yet, he has shown none of that success with the Nationals in limited playing time. He has the unfortunate profile of being a right-handed hitting first baseman who is slow. He has demonstrated a disciplined approach in the minors but major league pitchers have not been afraid to challenge him in the strike zone to date. Chaparro has a chance to compete for the starting first base role in camp as the roster stands now, but he needs to find a way to carry his minor league success forward. Read Past Outlooks

Chaparro was optioned to Triple-A Rochester following Sunday's 6-3 win over the Cubs, Mark Zuckerman of NatsJournal.com reports.
Analysis
Chaparro started two of the team's first three games of the year, going 2-for-6 with a double, a walk and a run scored. He will now head to Rochester for the time being, opening a spot for Curtis Mead to join Washington's major-league roster after the team acquired him from the White Sox on Saturday.

2025 Fantasy Outlook
Chaparro signed a minor-league contract with the Diamondbacks last offseason and impressed enough at Triple-A Reno (.967 OPS) that the Nationals asked for him at the trade deadline in a deal that sent reliever Dylan Floro to Arizona. The 25-year-old received his first major-league promotion in mid-August and put up an .815 OPS with four homers in his first 22 games before stumbling to a .440 OPS in his final 11 contests (in fairness, Chaparro had family stuff he was dealing with off the field at that time). Chaparro has always made a good amount of contact for a power hitter and that continued during his brief stint with the Nationals as he fanned at just an 18.2 percent rate. His quality of contact was lacking, however, with just a 33 percent hard-hit rate. With little-to-no defensive value, Chaparro's bat will need to carry him. It's possible the Nats will give him another opportunity in 2025, but the leash would probably be short.

Triple-A standout
1BNew York Yankees  AAA
April 26, 2023
Chaparro has blasted eight home runs in Triple-A and is on the Yankees' radar as New York searches for an offensive boost, reports Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News.
Analysis
Chaparro's .228/.282/.557 slash line is less impressive, but his pop is real. The 23-year-old received praise Tuesday from Yankees manager Aaron Boone, who said Chaparro, "can really hit...he's been banging, and we know that's who he is, so it's good to see that."
