Souttar did not have much defensive work to do on the night but recorded his first interceptions of the tournament, picking up two along with two clearances and winning four of six aerial duels. With Australia enjoying more possession than in the first two games he was heavily involved in the build-up, completing 86 passes and five long balls from the back. He has been an important figure in the group stage for a side that has kept two clean sheets in three games, contributing two tackles, 18 clearances, two interceptions and four blocks across those appearances.
