Bart Verbruggen

23-Year-Old GoalkeeperG
Brighton & Hove Albion
Premier
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Verbruggen was passable in his first season as the full-time Brighton starter. He kept seven clean sheets and allowed 58 goals behind a defensive unit that frequently changed shape due to injuries. He started all but two Premier League matches, both of which came early in the season when injured, and is the undisputed No. 1 goalkeeper for manager Fabian Hurzeler. Verbruggen will hope for double-digit clean sheets in 2025/26, something that should be attainable given a second year under Hurzeler and what expects to be a deeper, healthier Brighton squad.
Exceptional effort despite loss
GBrighton & Hove Albion
June 29, 2026
Verbruggen made five saves and allowed one goal in Monday's 1-1 (4-3) penalty shootout loss versus Morocco.
ANALYSIS
Verbruggen was outstanding for the Dutch on Monday despite the loss and goal allowed, as the goalie would make five incredible saves, with two likely to compete for the save of the tournament. However, he would see a slight blemish during the penalty shootout, as he appeared to save a penalty that would have kept them in for a sixth round, although it would go in off his leg following the save. Verbruggen proved to have a solid World Cup after a rough opening match, as he would combine for 16 saves and five goals allowed, although he will be disappointed not to have earned a clean sheet.

Target for Spurs
GBrighton & Hove Albion
May 28, 2026
Tottenham could attempt to sign Verbruggen in the summer, according to The Independent.
ANALYSIS
Roberto de Zerbi knows he needs to strengthen Tottenham's squad ahead of the 2026/27 season, following back-to-back disappointing campaigns. Guglielmo Vicario could leave the Spurs in the summer, so they'd need to sign a potential replacement. Verbruggen is one of the best options out there, as he's expected to leave Brighton in the summer.
