Ryan Gauld Injury: Undergoes arthroscopic procedure
Gauld underwent a successful arthroscopic debridement surgery on his left knee, and Whitecaps' sporting director Axel Schuster said they "will continue to closely monitor his ongoing recovery and anticipate he will make a full recovery by April.", according to the club.
Gauld returned from a serious knee issue in October but only saw limited action as a substitute in the final stretch of the year, failing to achieve an optimal recovery. His absence will represent a big loss for the team in the opening fixtures of the 2026 campaign, as they'll be without him in both MLS and CONCACAF Champions Cup action. All of Thomas Muller, Brian White and Rayan Elloumi could carry major offensive responsibilities in Gauld's absence.
