2025 Fantasy Outlook
Gauld put together perhaps the single-best season of his career in 2024, scoring 15 times and adding 12 assists while leading Vancouver to the playoffs yet again. The striker is at the heart of everything going forward for the Whitecaps, with his ability to play anywhere across the front three invaluable. He's showing no signs of slowing down and with Stuart Armstrong integrating into the team, the entire Vancouver attack could be in for a bump in 2025. If Gauld can take that next step, he has the potential to be one of the best attackers in MLS, and perhaps even an MVP candidate.
Still working on fitness
Gauld (knee) has made progress in his rehabilitation but still needs more training sessions with the team to be able to play, with coach Jesper Sorensen saying "Ryan needs more of a football-based training, a normal training [other] than just running around the pitch. You can see he's close to getting ready to play. He will have to catch up ground when the break is here. Hopefully, when he comes back, he will be ready to have a normal preseason working towards the rest of the season." Har Johal of Daily Hive reports.
ANALYSIS
Gauld is now targeting a return after the World Cup break after seeing no action over the first five months of the calendar year. His eventual comeback could strengthen a Whitecaps attack that is now without Emmanuel Sabbi (groin) and may turn to Kenji Cabrera and Cheikh Tidiane Sabaly on the wings in the short term.

Uncertain to return after break
Gauld (knee) is still working on his rehabilitation from knee surgery, and his potential return for an April 4 clash with Portland was mentioned by coach Jesper Sorensen on Friday. "I don't know. It's a couple of weeks from now. We have to see about Ryan. Considering the long time he's been out he will also have to get back into some kind of basic physical and technical level before we can start him in games.", Har Journalist of Equalizer Soccer reports.
