Abdullaev defeated Jefferson Nascimento via TKO (punches) at 4:28 of Round 3 at UFC Baku on Saturday.

Abdullaev was actually behind in significant strikes in the first two rounds, so this one could have gotten interesting had things gone to the judges. The Azerbaijan native didn't let that happen, however, as he sprinted for the finish towards the end of the final frame, emptying the tank before referee Jim Perdios stopped the fight in a stoppage that may have been a bit early. Abdullaev ends up with a victory in his UFC debut and his fifth win in a row, even if there was a little home cooking here. He could be a solid depth piece in the welterweight division.
