2026 Fantasy Outlook
The 15-time major champion did not tee it up once on the PGA Tour in 2025 due to a back and Achilles injury. Woods played in a few different TGL matches on a simulator, but that was about it. His ruptured Achilles in March while trying to gear up to play in The Masters was a big setback, and he suffered another in October when he underwent back surgery. Given the rehab for both of those injuries and the fact that he will turn 50 in late December, there is a real question as to what the future holds on the PGA Tour for the Hall-of-Famer. Given that TGL starts in late December, there's also a question as to whether or not he will even be able to play in Season 2 of his new golf league. Considering all his experience around Augusta National, that's the one place he probably still feels like he can compete with the best. It might be a stretch to play real life golf in April, but that's what he will be targeting going in 2026. Read Past Outlooks
Not playing British Open
Woods will not compete at the 2026 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale as he continues to focus on his personal health.
ANALYSIS
Woods has completed a rehab program in Switzerland to address some prescription medication issues that led to a rollover crash near his home in Jupiter, Florida on March 27. That was his latest among several issues throughout his career with motor vehicles. Most recently Woods was seen introducing PGA Tour CEO and now commissioner Brian Rolapp last week ahead of the Travelers Championship as the Tour announced their latest plans for the future that will begin in 2028 that includes a Championship Series and a Challenger Series. Woods has been a big part of helping to create this new look PGA Tour for the last couple years. While it's good to see Woods getting the help he needs and working through some key details about the PGA Tour's new structure, it does seem like it will be awhile before we see the 15-time major champion back in competition. His last competitive start was the 2024 Open Championship where he missed the cut.

The 15-time major champion had a rough go of it in 2024. While he was able to tee it up in all four majors, Woods was only able to make the cut at the Masters where he ended up with a 60th place finish. The only other tournament he played was The Genesis Invitational, which his foundation hosts, but he had to withdraw due to flu-like symptoms. Woods has not played more than five events in a year since 2020, and there's a good chance that continues in 2025. He will be coming into his age 49 season off another back surgery, and Augusta National seems like the only course he can truly be competitive on at this stage in his career. Woods will also have some of his focus in early 2025 on TGL, a new indoor golf league in partnership with the PGA Tour that will take place on Monday and Tuesday nights on a virtual course through mid-March.
