2026 Fantasy Outlook
Smith has been one of the regular DP World Tour players for the last handful of years, and now he will get his chance to take up full PGA Tour membership. Smith put together a season in which he had six top-10s and 13 top-25s. He also made the cut in both of his major starts. Smith ranked 20th in SG: Tee-to-Green and eighth in GIR percentage on the DP World Tour. The ball striking has always been there for the 33-year-old, but the putting can be very streaky. Smith has the game to be able to adapt to PGA Tour setups and could find himself in contention a handful of times. Read Past Outlooks
Drops to T21 after 36-hole lead
Smith posted an even-par 70 in the final round of the Genesis Scottish Open to finish in a five-way tie for 21st.
ANALYSIS
Smith caught fire Friday with a seven-under 63 with eight birdies and a bogey, and he entered the weekend tied with Rory McIlroy and eventual winner Tom Kim atop the leaderboard. However, Smith was unable to maintain that weekend over the next two days, posting a two-over 72 on Saturday before failing to make any ground in the final round, a performance that was eerily similar to his outing at the Charles Schwab Challenge in late May. The Englishman connected on 37 of 52 fairways, which was tied for the best driving accuracy in the field. He also ranked T3 in scrambling, T6 in GIR, T10 in bogeys and T11 in SG: Off-the-Tee, though he also finished 50th and 54th in SG: Putting and Around, respectively. Smith will tee off at The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale next week, where he finished T45 last year at Royal Portrush.
