2026 Fantasy Outlook
Woodland is coming off his best season since 2021-22, which was highlighted by nearly coming from behind at the Houston Open to finish T2. He made a solid 16-of-22 cuts with eight top-25s, although he narrowly missed out on the FedExCup Playoffs. Despite now being in his 40s, Woodland still ranked among the top 20 on Tour in distance, but he's seen a gradual decline in his around the green play over the years, ranking fourth to last in the category in 2025. Surprisingly, he hasn't won since his breakthrough major victory six years ago, and that's looking more unlikely with each passing year. Read Past Outlooks
Wins Texas Children's Houston Open
Woodland won the Texas Children's Houston Open by four strokes after posting a 21-under cumulative score.
ANALYSIS
Woodland's 2026 season started out slowly with four missed cuts in six tournaments, but he entered the week with a bit of momentum on his side after a T14 at the Valspar Championship. He enjoyed success at Memorial Park in 2025, finishing tied with Scottie Scheffler (personal) for second behind winner Min Woo Lee, but Woodland was even better this year. He carded rounds of 64-63-65 through the first three rounds of the tournament and entered Sunday with a one-shot lead over Nicolai Hojgaard. Hojgaard struggled to open the final round, which allowed Woodland to grow his lead after a four-under front nine that included three consecutive birdies from holes seven to nine. That was enough of a cushion for Woodland to capture his fifth PGA Tour victory and first tournament win since the U.S. Open in 2019. It was a feel-good moment for Woodland, who underwent brain surgery in September of 2023 and contemplated leaving golf altogether. The victory also means that he will be in the field for The Masters in two weeks time, where he finished T14 in 2023 before missing the cut in his last outing at Augusta National in 2024. Woodland is currently listed in the field for the Valero Texas Open next week, where he's made the cut in six of seven previous outings, including T40 in 2025.

2024 was a big year for Woodland even if the results on the golf course didn't say so. He was able to return after brain surgery to remove a tumor back in September of 2023. The 2019 U.S. Open champ was just greatful to be out there and being able to still play the sport he loves. That all being said, Woodland is going to have to do better than three top-25s. He can still get it out there with the best of them at 40 years of age, but outside the top-130 in both SG: Around-the-Green and SG: Putting is going to make it hard to put up quality results.
