Chris Gotterup

26-Year-Old Golfer
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Gotterup got off to a slow start in 2025 as he missed the cut in 8 of his first 12 starts. He started to find his groove as the season went on racking up eight top-30s over his next nine starts. Then the true breakout happened. Gotterup stared down Rory McIlroy in the final group on Sunday at the Scottish Open and picked up his second PGA Tour victory. He rode that momentum into The Open Championship next week and finished solo third. After a T10 the following week at the 3M Open, there was a lot of talk about putting Gotterup on the Ryder Cup team. The FedExCup playoffs were mostly a disappointment, however, and Gotterup would get passed up on by U.S. Captain Keegan Bradley. Nevertheless, Gotterup's play over the second half of the 2025 season leaves plenty of reason for optimism going into 2026. He was arguably the best driver on the PGA Tour over that time, and also saw huge strides in his iron play, short game and putting. If Gotterup is able to put it all together for a full season, the potential is certainly there for him to one day become a top player on Tour. Read Past Outlooks
Strong weekend leads to T6 finish
March 29, 2026
Gotterup fired a five-under 65 in the final round of the Texas Children's Houston Open to finish in a share of sixth place.
ANALYSIS
Gotterup didn't have the greatest start to the week, but made it count on the weekend where he went 65-65 to surge up into the top 10. Gotterup would move up back into the top 5 in the FedExCup standings as a result. The two-time winner this year was third in SG: Off-the-Tee, but just 44th in SG: Approach at Houston. Gotterup will look to get the approach play ironed out before he makes his first start at The Masters in a couple weeks. He is not playing the Valero Texas Open.

2025
2024
It didn't take Gotterup long to pick up his first PGA Tour win, as he took down the alternate event Myrtle Beach Classic in May in his rookie campaign. That was one of the few bright spots for the 2022 Haskins Award winner, as the win was his only top-10, and he only had four top-25s all year. He's one of the longest hitters on Tour (fifth in driving distance), but he's also incredibily sporadic off the tee and was only 163rd in SG: Approach. Unless he cleans up those areas significantly, he's likely to continue to be inconsistent, but his length advantage is massive and should occasionally get him into contention on his spike putting weeks.
Gotterup made three consecutive cuts at the PGA Tour level during the fall series in 2022, but he'll become a full-time cardholder for the first time in 2024 thanks in large part to 14 total top-25s on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2023. The University of Oklahoma product already exhausted his rookie eligibility with eight starts in 2021-22, when he notably tied for fourth at the John Deere Classic. Gotterup led the KFT in driving distance this past season, while also ranking top-10 in GIR percentage and birdie average.
