Landry's lone highlight was a tie for fourth at the RSM Classic. Which is a highlight many guys would kill for. He didn't have another top-25. But he won the 2020 American Express and thus is secure not just for one more season but through 2022-23.
Landry notched his second win in three years at the American Express in January. Unfortunately, it didn't amount to much else as he had just one other top-25 in 22 starts. At 167th in SG: Total and 131st in scoring average last season, there is not a whole lot to feel confident in going to the 2020-21 season.
Landry's first season on the PGA Tour was less than fruitful, but he put that memory to rest the following season when he picked up his first PGA Tour victory and over $2.5 million in earnings. Heading into this past season, it was tough to tell which was the real Landry though as he had only two seasons under his belt and they couldn't have been more contrasting. Unfortunately, this past season did not settle the matter. The good news is, the bar was set low last season and we know his upside is over $2.5 million, all of which make him a decent salary cap selection this season.
Landry was a rookie on the PGA Tour during the 2015-2016 season and to put it lightly, he wasn't very good. He got his game back together the following season while on the Web.com Tour, which bought him another opportunity on the PGA Tour. He didn't waste his opportunity this time. Landry has won events in three of his past four seasons, two of which were on the Web.com Tour, but hey, winning is tough on any tour. The point is, the rough rookie season on the PGA Tour looks like the outlier now. Landry produces, but he's not necessarily consistent. Last season he was all over the map. He book-ended four missed cuts and a T42 with a runner-up and a win. Landry looks like a winner and he should be a factor on the PGA Tour for years to come. As for this season, he's probably not a great salary cap selection because the lack of consistency. Couple that with an abundance of talent right in the same salary range and it makes it easier to pass on him.
Landry finished fourth on the Web.com's 2017 regular season money list to earn his PGA Tour card for the second time in his career, having originally lost it after missing 9 of 18 cuts during his 2015-16 campaign. This past season at the Web.com level, Landry claimed his second career victory at the Bahamas Great Abaco Classic in January before adding six more top-five finishes. Additional highlights for Landry include ranking second in putting average and third in birdie average on the Web.com Tour.
