2026 Projections
Past neck injury
Nubin (neck) participated in Thursday's OTA practice, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Nubin finished the 2025 season on injured reserve due to a neck injury. The 2024 second-round pick impressed through his first two seasons, recording 176 tackles (106 solo) and three pass breakups through 26 games. He'll likely start at strong safety once again in 2026, although the addition of Jason Pinnock -- a starter for the Giants in 2023 and 2024 -- represents some level of competition.

Nubin had big shoes to fill as a rookie as he was tabbed to replace Xavier McKinney after being selected in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He immediately played 100 percent of defensive snaps, a run that ended in Week 14 only because he suffered a serious ankle injury that required surgery to repair. Nubin offers a complete skillset, as he played 309 snaps in the box and supported the run defense well and was also regarded as an elite player in coverage entering the league. The Giants trusted him in the latter role, as he also logged 372 snaps as a traditional free safety. Assuming Nubin's health checks out, he is likely to become one of the top IDP options at defensive back due to his combination of role and skill.
