Walker agreed to terms Monday on a three-year, $40.5 million contract with Las Vegas, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Walker logged a career year with the Packers in 2025, racking up 128 tackles (58 solo), including 2.5 sacks, and five pass defenses over 14 regular-season games, and he'll now bring his talents to the Raiders as the team's new starting middle linebacker. The landing spot is positive for Walker's fantasy value in IDP formats, as new defensive coordinator Rob Leonard figures to rely on the soon-to-be 26-year-old linebacker as an every-down playmaker and schematic focal point.

Walker enters the 2025 season in an interesting position, as the Packers declined the fifth-year option on his rookie contract but have stated they are open to signing him to an extension. His fit in the defense isn't exactly clear, however. Edgerrin Cooper displayed the potential as a rookie that the Packers were likely hoping for from Walker in the last three years. That could push the Packers toward moving on from him after the upcoming campaign. Even with some of those negatives, Walker has topped 100 tackles and two sacks in all three of his campaigns. Even if his future isn't in Green Bay for the long term, Walker should still be on the field in all early downs and oftentimes as a three-down linebacker in 2025. It's also possible he puts it all together in a late breakout, given how much is on the line for him in 2025.
Two seasons into his career, Walker has proven himself to be a strong tackler and run-stopper. He's also missed time in each campaign, as he was ejected from a pair of games in his rookie season before battling a shoulder injury that sidelined him for three games in 2024. With those growing pains out of the way, it should line up for year three to be Walker's true breakout. However, the addition of Edgerin Cooper in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft muddies Walker's playing time projection. The coaching staff has called the duo "interchangeable," though it's not time to panic just yet considering Cooper hasn't played a down as a pro.
Selected in the first round in the 2022 Draft, Walker started 16 of 17 games alongside De'Vondre Campbell and wound up racking up more tackles than his counterpart (121 vs. 96) or any other Packer. Walker wasn't consistent, but he did average nine stops per game from Weeks 7-12 - four of which Campbell missed. The upside for both players is capped when they're out there, but if Walker's opportunities increase, he has the potential to make an impact in leagues that credit tackles for IDPs.
While many expected the Packers to draft a wide receiver with their top pick, they went with the guy they liked best at 22nd overall, and that was a University of Georgia defender for a second straight year. Walker won't be the Packers' top inside linebacker, as the team brought back tackling machine De'Vondre Campbell in the offseason. However, Walker figures to see the field plenty as a versatile complement who can cover opposing skill players. Walker isn't known as a turnover generator, but he still should rack up his fair share of tackles.

Done in GB after Franklin trade?
LBGreen Bay Packers
March 7, 2026
The Packers acquired Zaire Franklin from the Colts on Saturday, a move that will likely result in Walker not returning to Green Bay for 2026, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Walker is coming off the most productive season of his four-year NFL career, finishing the 2025 regular season with 128 total tackles, including 2.5 sacks, and five pass defenses over 14 games. He will enter the new league year as an unrestricted free agent after the Packers declined his fifth-year option in May of 2025. Given that Walker has logged 100-plus tackles in each of his four seasons, the Georgia product should garner plenty of interest from teams looking for a major upgrade to their linebacker corps.
