2026 Projections
Sets career-best mark in sacks
Herbig recorded 30 tackles (21 solo), including 7.5 sacks, along with an interception, three pass defenses, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a touchdown over 15 regular-season appearances in 2025.
ANALYSIS
While Herbig's tackle total didn't jump off the page during the 2025 campaign, he ranked second on the team in sacks despite appearing in just 15 regular-season matchups. The 2023 fourth-round pick was on the field for just 53 percent of the Steelers' defensive snaps this year and could have the potential to build upon his production during the final season of his rookie contract in 2026 if his playing time increases.

Herbig spent three collegiate seasons at Wisconsin and tallied 47 tackles (33 solo), 11 sacks and two pass defenses during his final year with the Badgers in 2022. He was selected by the Steelers in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft and will likely have to compete with Markus Golden for snaps behind T.J. Watt as a rookie.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could benefit from trade
Herbig could benefit from a move to a different team this offseason, Aaron Schatz of ESPN.com opines.
ANALYSIS
Unlike some of the other players around the league Schatz pegs as good candidates for a change of scenery, Herbig is admittedly flourishing with his current Steelers squad and is offering very good production relative to his salary. However, Schatz notes that Herbig's NFL-best 26.3 percent pass-rush win rate last season and 7.5 sacks on a 52 percent snap share beg the question of what he could do as a full-time starter elsewhere. The opportunity for a larger role is unlikely to come in Pittsburgh, where he remains stuck behind T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith.
