Set to be let go by Bills
The Bills are in line to release Samuel, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Samuel was limited to seven catches in six 2025 regular-season games during his second campaign with the Bills. Now that Buffalo is moving on from Samuel -- who topped the 60-catch mark as recently as 2023 with the Commanders -- the 29-year-old will look to catch on elsewhere as a depth WR/return option.

Samuel was the most expensive gadget player in the league last season, often playing fewer than 20 snaps despite signing a three-year, $24 million contract with Buffalo in the offseason. Most of his 46 targets came near the line of scrimmage, with Samuel's aDOT dropping to 4.6 after sitting at 6.6 and 6.7 in his final two years with the Commanders. The re-emergence of a turf toe issue that bothered Samuel earlier in his career may have been a factor in the lack of playing time, but it's nonetheless unclear where he stands heading into 2025. He has a full guarantee for his $6.91 million salary this season, yet it won't be surprising if he merely serves as the No. 4 receiver in Buffalo again. Khalil Shakir is locked in as the slot man, which is the role that seemingly would best suit Samuel.

Officially out in Buffalo
Samuel was released by the Bills on Friday, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Samuel was joined by three other veterans in getting pink slips from the Bills on Friday, but his release saves the team the most cap space, $6 million. The versatile veteran wideout spent two seasons in Buffalo, but he played in just 20 out of a possible 34 regular-season games primarily due to injuries and finished with a 38-334-2 line and five carries for 14 yards over that span.
