Target for Lions at No. 17
Howell will be selected by the Lions with the No. 17 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, Nick Shook of NFL.com projects.
ANALYSIS
The Texas A&M edge rusher was a disruptive force over his last three college seasons, beginning with his final season at Bowling Green in 2023. Despite some concerns about Howell's 30.25-inch arm length, he recorded 27.0 sacks, defensed 15 passes, recorded one interception and forced three fumbles across 56 career regular-season and postseason games. Shook points out that Lions general manager Brad Holmes has consistently proven willing to go with players he likes regardless of projection, and the former envisions Howell as the ideal complement to Aidan Hutchison on the defensive front.
