B.J. Hill

29-Year-Old Defensive TackleDT
Cincinnati Bengals
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Hill had another fine year as a starting defensive tackle for the Bengals, registering 51 tackles, 4.5 sacks and even two interceptions. However, when DJ Reader got hurt late in the year, the Bengals run defense suffered, as the depth alongside and behind Hill was lacking. The team added free agent Sheldon Rankins from the Texans and drafted Kris Jenkins from Michigan in the second round to address that, and to perhaps have Hill play slightly fewer snaps than the 746 he logged in 2023. Hill is a reserve defensive tackle who will rotate in to keep the starters fresh on occasion.
Hill showed enough in the early going last year to convince New York to trade away one of the NFL's best run defenders in Damon Harrison, and entrust him with 10 consecutive starting nods to round out 2018. He proved to be somewhat of a pocket collapser, collecting 5.5 sacks last year as a rookie after accounting for six total during his final 25 collegiate games. Entering his age-24 season, the N.C. State product will comprise one-third of Big Blue's starting defensive line, along with third-year man Dalvin Tomlinson and rookie Dexter Lawrence.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could be cut
DTCincinnati Bengals
February 20, 2024
Hill could be cut this offseason to help the Bengals save cap space, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill is entering the final season of a three-year, $30 million extension, and cutting him could save the Bengals $7.5 million in cap space. That would be vital in an offseason during which the team faces tough decisions regarding the futures of Tee Higgins, Joe Mixon and Tyler Boyd. Even if the cap space help elsewhere on the roster, losing Hill would be a tough blow for the defense, as the defensive tackle has played over 700 snaps in each of the last two seasons and has combined for 7.5 sacks and nine passes defensed in that span.
