Nursing ankle sprain
Carter did not practice Tuesday or Wednesday after spraining his ankle Monday, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
ANALYSIS
Leonard also noted that Carter had his ankle tightly wrapped during Wednesday's walkthrough, but it's an encouraging sign that he's not wearing a boot. The 22-year-old edge rusher is targeting a return for the beginning of training camp.

2025 Fantasy Outlook
Carter began his collegiate career as an off-ball linebacker at Penn State and was regarded as one of the top players at his position as a prospect. However, he shifted to edge in his final year with the Nittany Lions and catapulted himself into the conversation as the top overall pick after logging 24 tackles for loss and 12.0 sacks across 16 games in 2024. Carter ultimately went third overall to the Giants and joins a very talented group of defensive linemen on the roster. He could open up his career in a rotation with Kayvon Thibodeaux, but there's no doubt he'll find his way onto the field and should be plenty impactful. In the context of dynasty leagues, Carter could quickly emerge to the heights of elite young options at the position such as Aidan Hutchinson and Travon Walker.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Poised for breakout
Carter will record at least 12.0 sacks in 2026, Seth Walder of ESPN predicts.
ANALYSIS
Carter had only 4.0 sacks across 17 games as a rookie in 2025, but he was far more consistent at generating pressure, as he was credited with 23 quarterback hits and 66 pressures. That should lead to more sack production in his sophomore campaign, particularly with the Giants continuing to build out their linebacker corps. The team also offset the loss of Dexter Lawrence by signing DJ Reader, meaning Carter should have plenty of support around him to help him have a breakout year in 2026.
