2024 Fantasy Outlook
When Okereke signed with the Giants prior to the 2023 season, there was virtually no doubt that he'd pile up tackles at among the most prolific rates in the league. He didn't disappoint in that regard, tallying 149 total tackles. What did change was his ability to be effective in other roles. He had regularly been asked to work in coverage throughout his career, but something clicked with Big Blue as he came up with a career-high 10 passes defensed, translating to two interceptions. The difference in his role came as a pass rusher, as he logged a career-best 137 snaps as a pass rusher, resulting in 2.5 sacks. In contrast, he had only two sacks combined across his first four seasons in the league. The Giants have a new defensive coaching staff which could mean his role changes again, but at worst he's going to be on the field consistently while piling a ton of tackles. Read Past Outlooks

Racks up 11 tackles Sunday
LBNew York Giants
November 11, 2024
Okereke recorded 11 tackles (four solo) during Sunday's 20-17 overtime loss against the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
As usual, Okereke paced Giants linebackers in snaps (55) in Week 10, and he posted nine-plus tackles for his third consecutive game. He projects as a solid IDP option in most formats for the home stretch of the season.

A third-round pick in 2019, Okereke emerged as a top inside linebacker the last two seasons, piling up 283 tackles for the Colts while not missing a game. The Stanford product parlayed that production into a four-year, $40 million contract from the Giants this offseason, and while he benefited from having DeForest Buckner occupy blockers ahead of him in Indy, Leonard Williams and the New York defensive line are no slouches either. Okereke won't have much competition in the middle of coordinator Don Martindale's scheme, as the Giants' top two tacklers from 2022 (Julian Love and Jaylon Smith) are both gone.
Okereke took over as the Colts' starting middle linebacker last season with the departure of Anthony Walker in free agency and proved to be a steady and reliable anchor in the defense. He tallied 132 tackles (89 solo), four pass deflections, two interceptions and one sack in 17 games, numbers that have him on the IDP radar heading into the 2022 campaign.
Okereke looks set to be the starting middle linebacker this season with the departure of Anthony Walker in free agency. Okereke had 72 total tackles and an interception mostly playing the weak-side role last season, so the move could boost his fantasy value.
As a rookie with the Colts in 2019, Okereke logged 65 tackles, a sack and two pass breakups over 16 games. The third-round draft pick did so while making eight starts and averaging 29.9 defensive snaps per game. With a full-time linebacker role alongside Darius Leonard and Anthony Walker now on tap, Okereke could find himself on the fantasy radar in 2020.

Might follow former coach
LBIndianapolis Colts
January 30, 2023
Okereke is prepared to leave the Colts in free agency and could be interested in heading to the Bears, Mike Chappell of Fox 59 News Indianapolis reports.
ANALYSIS
The fourth-year linebacker is coming off back-to-back huge seasons, collecting 283 tackles while playing all 34 games, but coaching and front-office changes in Indianapolis leave his future with the team up in the air. "Just letting my agent focus on that,'' Okereke said Monday. "I have tried to control what I can control," If he does leave the Colts, the 26-year-old hinted he might look to reunite with former Indy defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, who's now the head coach in Chicago. "Flus and those guys aren't here anymore. This is like my first real journey into free agency. It's an opportunity to get financial freedom. It's massive. Indy is near and dear to my heart, but it's not up to me. It's about business.''
