When Okereke signed with the Giants prior to the 2023 season, there was virtually no doubt that he'd pile up tackles at among the most prolific rates in the league. He didn't disappoint in that regard, tallying 149 total tackles. What did change was his ability to be effective in other roles. He had regularly been asked to work in coverage throughout his career, but something clicked with Big Blue as he came up with a career-high 10 passes defensed, translating to two interceptions. The difference in his role came as a pass rusher, as he logged a career-best 137 snaps as a pass rusher, resulting in 2.5 sacks. In contrast, he had only two sacks combined across his first four seasons in the league. The Giants have a new defensive coaching staff which could mean his role changes again, but at worst he's going to be on the field consistently while piling a ton of tackles.
