2025 Fantasy Outlook
Wagner took a step forward as a playmaker in 2024-25, posting career highs in usage rate (31.0%) and assist rate (26.6%). That was partially fueled out of necessity, as Paolo Banchero was limited to 46 games, and Jalen Suggs was limited to 23 games. Regardless, Wagner played well with increased responsibilities, averaging 24.2 points and 1.7 threes on 46/30/87 shooting, 5.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.3 steals in 33.7 minutes. His three-point shooting is the biggest area of concern. After shooting 35.8 percent from distance over his first two seasons, Wagner has shot 28.9 percent since. The dip has not come with a dip in free-throw percentage, however, making the situation a bit confusing. If he can manage to get back on track from distance, he'll become one of the most efficient high-volume forwards in the NBA. This season, it may be easier for Wagner to increase his efficiency, as Orlando added another quality scorer and playmaker to the mix in Desmond Bane. That could mean a reduction in responsibility for Wagner, but his usage had possibly hit its ceiling anyway while playing next to Banchero - especially if the team is healthier overall. Either way, Wagner is capable of putting up All-Star-caliber numbers and can start to be considered in fantasy around the third or fourth round. Read Past Outlooks

2021
In 2023-24, Wagner averaged 19.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.1 steals per game -- all career highs. However, his three-point shot took a turn for the worse. After shooting at least 35 percent from deep in each of his first two seasons, Wagner shot only 28.1 percent on 4.6 attempts per game last year, including an abysmal 18.8 percent over his final 27 regular-season appearances. The 22-year-old is an ascending player, and the Magic -- led by Paolo Banchero -- are emerging as a legitimate threat in the Eastern Conference, but without a competent three-point shot, Wagner's fantasy value will be limited. Given Wagner has shot at least 84 percent from the charity stripe in each of his first three NBA seasons, it's safe to say he could bounce back from deep with a mechanical adjustment. However, it'd still be a stretch to draft Wagner inside the top 50 even if it were certain he'd get back to being a league-average three-point shooter. While Wagner has restricted fantasy upside in his current situation, he has a relatively safe floor and should be drafted before the seventh round.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Earns EuroBasket honor
Wagner was named to the EuroBasket All-Star Five on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Wagner emerged as a go-to option for Germany, providing a much-needed scoring punch to take some of the pressure off Dennis Schroder. Wagner averaged 20.8 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists, showing why so many fantasy managers are excited about his potential for the 2025-26 season. He struggled from beyond the arc at EuroBasket with a 28.9 percent mark, however, and that was a major weakness for him with the Magic in 2024-25.
