Adebayo isn't the flashiest player in the league but has finished as a top-30 fantasy option in eight-category leagues in five of the last six seasons. The lone time he failed to reach that plateau was in 2021-22, when he appeared in a career-low 56 games. Extending that streak last season was even more impressive given the constant changes to Miami's rotation. Adebayo started at power forward often in the second half, allowing rookie Kel'el Ware to get important developmental minutes at center after Jimmy Butler's injury and trade demand pushed Miami out of contention. The move resulted in fewer rebounds for Adebayo but more three-pointers. Despite the change in his profile, his overall fantasy value remained the same. The Heat's biggest move of the offseason was trading for Norman Powell, plus they replaced Duncan Robinson with Simone Fontecchio and drafted Kasparas Jakucionis. Miami will also return Tyler Herro, who'll miss the start of the campaign after undergoing offseason surgery on his foot, and Andrew Wiggins, who should soak up most of the usage. None of the changes should impact Adebayo's consistency, unless Miami's offense is horrendous and his recently developed three-point shot falls off a cliff. Edrice Femi Adebayo was born in 1997 in Newark, New Jersey. He goes by the nickname "Bam", which was given to him as a baby after he flipped over a table while watching The Flintstones. Adebayo is the son of Marilyn Blount and John Adebayo. At the high school level, Adebayo spent his first three years at Northside High School in Pinetown, North Carolina. As a junior, he averaged 32.2 points and 18 rebounds per game. Adebayo transferred to High Point Christian Academy (North Carolina) for his senior season and averaged 18.9 points and 13.0 rebounds. Adebayo led the Cougars to a NCISAA state championship appearance and was named the North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year in 2016. The Kentucky commit was selected to play in both the McDonald's All-America Game and the Jordan Brand Classic in 2016. Adebayo played one season at Kentucky alongside fellow first-round picks De'Aaron Fox and Malik Monk. He started all 38 games for the Wildcats and averaged 13.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 30.1 minutes. Adebayo was named to the All-SEC Second Team and the SEC All-Freshman team. He led the team in rebounds, blocks, double-doubles and dunks. His 101 dunks ranked second in the country. With De'Aaron Fox and Malik Monk in the backcourt, Adebayo was not a featured offensive player for the Wildcats, but he provided 13.0 points to go along with 8.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game. The center had three double-doubles in his first eight games and had eight dub-dubs on the season. The 6-10 postman had a season-high 22 points with 15 rebounds and three blocks in a win over Missouri. He helped Kentucky win the SEC Tournament with averages of 13.3 points and 9.7 rebounds. In the first round of the NCAA Tournament, Adebayo snatched a season-high 18 rebounds to go with 15 points against Northern Kentucky. The Wildcats advanced to the Elite Eight before losing to North Carolina. After the season, Adebayo declared for the 2017 NBA Draft despite having three years of eligibility remaining. He was chosen by the Miami Heat with the 14th overall pick.

Adebayo averaged 19.3 points, 10.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.9 blocks in 34.0 minutes per game across 71 regular-season appearances in 2023-24 en route to being named to the All-Defensive First Team. The three-time All-Star signed a three-year extension with the Heat this offseason and is now under contract until 2028-29. Since 2019-20, Adebayo has finished 12th, 13th, 55th, 19th and 30th in eight-category leagues despite a non-existent three-point shot. The 55th-place finish was because Adebayo played in a career-low 56 regular-season games in 2021-22. He's appeared in 75 and 71 regular-season games over the last two seasons, respectively. Adebayo goes about his work quietly and remains one of the most productive players in the league. While he may never be a top-10 fantasy pick because of his lack of an outside shot, Adebayo has been one of the most consistent players in category leagues, and his role should be unchanged heading into 2024-25. Miami used its first-round pick to select Kel'el Ware at 15th overall, and while the Indiana product showed flashes during Summer League play, he's not a threat to Adebayo's playing time or usage. A healthy Terry Rozier, Tyler Herro and Jimmy Butler should make things easier for Adebayo next season, but that trio has struggled to stay on the court for multiple seasons in a row. Adebayo is a safe pick in the third or fourth of fantasy drafts in most formats.

Adebayo may not be the most prolific in any single category, but his all-around production is a valuable asset at the center position. Due to being one of Miami's only big men, the 26-year-old center was relied upon heavily on both the offensive and defensive end for the Heat. He played 75 games in 2022-23 and averaged 20.4 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.8 blocks in 34.6 minutes. Adebayo is one of the best passers at the center position, although his production has decreased from his 5.4 assists per game in 2020-21. While he is also one of the best defensive players in basketball, his counting stats don't necessarily jump out. Regardless, he ranked 21st in total fantasy points last year due to his availability and ability to average nearly a 20-point double-double. He also shot 80.6 percent on 5.4 free-throw attempts, which is an excellent mark for a center. The losses of Max Strus and Gabe Vincent and the additions of Thomas Bryant and Josh Richardson should do little to impact Adebayo's fantasy value. Overall, Adebayo is a reliable option in the late third round or early fourth round in most 12-team formats.

Last year, for the fifth consecutive season, Adebayo increased his points per game, shots per game and steals per game. He averaged a double-double at 19.1 points and 10.1 rebounds to go along with 3.4 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.8 blocks per night. Playing a huge role in Miami's perennial success, Adebayo stands as the lone source of interior grit after P.J. Tucker's migration to Philadelphia. Dewayne Dedmon marks the only source of floor spacing depth behind Adebayo. Playing time could hit an all-time high for the 26-year-old. If Miami asks him to anchor the basket more often, an uptick in rebounding and shot blocking is likely. He's ranked between 21st and 34th in eight-category per-game fantasy production over the past three years, so drafting him in that range again -- probably closer to the higher end -- makes sense this season.

Though Adebayo wasn't able to make the All-Star team last season, he put up better numbers than he did as an All-Star in 2019-20. The emerging center averaged 18.7 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.4 assists and a combined 2.2 steals-plus-blocks. His impressive defense led to him being voted to the All-Defensive Second Team for a second straight year. He also shot well from both the field (57.0 percent) and the charity stripe (79.9 percent), by big-man standards. Adebayo's production led to him ranking 21st in fantasy on a per-game basis -- a 10-spot jump compared to 2019-20. The 24-year-old figures to keep improving in 2021-22, though the addition of Kyle Lowry will take some scoring and playmaking pressure off of his shoulders. As a result, a slight dip in points and assists wouldn't be surprising, though there could be more available effort to rack up rebounds, steals and blocks. Ultimately, Adebayo is an ascending star on one of the East's top teams who already has a proven track record. He's durable, his floor is high, and he deserves to be selected in the second or third round of most fantasy drafts.

Adebayo took over the Heat's starting center job in 2019-20 after Hassan Whiteside was dealt to the Trail Blazers. Missing just one regular-season contest, Adebayo had a breakout year, earning an All-Star nomination and averaging 15.9 points, 10.2 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.1 steals in 33.6 minutes. His impressive defense led to an All-Defensive Second Team nod, as well. Overall, Adebayo delivered third-round value to fantasy managers on a per-game basis in eight-category leagues -- a leap of 90 spots from a year prior. Heading into 2020-21, Adebayo's role is clearly secure, and he may be able to improve given that he's just 23 years old. He may never become an effective three-point shooter, but bumping up his free-throw percentage is well within reason, and he can likely still grow as a shot-blocker. Adebayo's youth, well-rounded game, lack of an injury history and clear role means he'll be a popular option come draft day, and he'll likely be taken in the second or third round.

Adebayo parlayed his 2017-18 rookie year flashes into a bigger role last season. He came off the bench for 59 of his first 65 appearances in 2018-19, but Adebayo was given a bigger role down the stretch as coach Erik Spoelstra began to trust him over Hassan Whiteside. The result was Adebayo starting 22 of the final 23 games of the season. That's a role he should occupy full-time in 2019-20, as Whiteside was dealt to the Trail Blazers over the summer. In the 13 games Adebayo saw 30-plus minutes last season, he averaged 12.9 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and a combined 2.2 blocks/steals while shooting an impressive 59.8 percent from the field (102 attempts) and 72.6 percent from the charity stripe (62 attempts). While it seems Adebayo might be destined to be a low-usage offensive player, he should provide strong value to fantasy owners as a rebounder, defender and efficient scorer.

Adebayo, the 14th overall pick out of Kentucky in 2017, was able to make an impact as a rookie. He saw 19.8 minutes per game, averaging 6.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and a combined 1.1 blocks/steals. He even drew 19 starts while Hassan Whiteside missed games due to injury. In those tilts, Adebayo averaged 7.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists and a combined 1.1 steals/blocks across 24.9 minutes -- enough to make him relevant for a stretch in DFS. The 21-year-old doesn't project to see much of an increase in role this season, assuming Hassan Whiteside’s minutes plateau, rather than decrease again. As a result, he can likely be avoided once again during Fantasy drafts, but might be a nice waiver wire target in the case of some frontcourt injuries for the Heat.

Adebayo, a 6-foot-10 power forward/center with a 7-foot-3 wingspan out of Kentucky, was selected 14th overall by the Heat in the 2017 NBA Draft. He played one season in college, posting 13.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks across 30.1 minutes per game. More was expected from him, though, considering the lofty expectations placed on him out of high school. That said, the Heat seemingly feel good about Adebayo’s upside as an NBA rebounder and shot-blocker, despite his limited shooting range and tendency to get into foul trouble. Adebayo rewarded Miami’s confidence in him by having a dominant summer league in both Orlando and Las Vegas. In Orlando, he posted 17.5 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks across 30.8 minutes per game. In Vegas, he averaged 15.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals across 29.0 minutes per game. He’ll likely struggle to find playing time conducive to reliable Fantasy production however, as he’s seemingly behind Hassan Whiteside, Kelly Olynyk and James Johnson in the Heat’s frontcourt. For that reason, he probably won’t be relevant in most year-long Fantasy formats, though could end up providing value in DFS if the Heat get hit with some frontcourt injuries.
