2026 Fantasy Outlook
Realistically, it will be difficult for Pinango to break through on the 2026 Blue Jays, given their short-term aspirations and his lack of clear impact potential on either side of the ball. Pinango has a chance to hit enough to play left field for a second-division team in a year or two if the Jays deal him for help at the deadline, but he's sufficiently blocked as things stand, despite the fact he's ready for his first taste of the majors. The lefty-hitting Pinango had a 169 wRC+ in 47 games at Double-A and a 96 wRC+ in 84 games at Triple-A. He was lucky at Double-A (career-high 20.0% HR/FB) and unlucky at Triple-A (.278 BABIP), but even so, he was age-appropriate (23) while logging a .143 ISO at Triple-A. He is hit over power, but he doesn't project to hit enough in the short term to make up for his fringe-average power and below-average defense. Read Past Outlooks
Playing time on upswing
Pinango will start in right field and bat cleanup in Sunday's game against the Yankees.
Analysis
With Daulton Varsho (wrist) recently joining Addison Barger (elbow) on the injured list, Pinango has a clearer path to playing time in the short term. He'll be making his sixth start in seven games Sunday after going 6-for-18 with a home run, two doubles, three walks and two RBI over the previous six contests.
