Rest-of-Season Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Pozo made the most of limited playing time in the first half last season with the Cardinals, slashing .312/.330/.505 with four home runs over 38 contests. Things didn't go nearly as well after the All-Star break, however, as he went only 8-for-67 at the dish and missed time with a concussion. The Cardinals non-tendered Pozo over the offseason but then brought him back on a split contract even though they already have an abundance of catching depth, suggesting they value the 28-year-old. Pozo sports a career .321/.343/.545 batting line and 10.7 percent strikeout rate in 329 games at the Triple-A level, so he's got some ability with the bat. His best chance at playing time in 2026 would be for the Cardinals to give up on Ivan Herrera playing catcher and send Jimmy Crooks to Triple-A Memphis, but even then Pozo would be behind Pedro Pages in the pecking order. Hitless in loss
Pozo went 0-for-1 in his lone plate appearance Sunday in the 3-2 loss to the Mariners.
Analysis
Pozo came in as a pinch-hitter in the ninth and grounded out for the second put-out of the inning. The right-hander, who is operating as the secondary backup catcher and designated hitter, has gotten some playing time this season with Pedro Pages (hamstring) out a couple of games. The 28-year-old has only started in two games so far this season and has mostly come on as a pinch-hitter or defensive replacement at catcher.
