Rest-of-Season Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Perez didn't make his 2025 season debut until late May due to back inflammation, but once he did, he settled into a fairly regular role and took a small step forward from his 2024 rookie campaign. The 26-year-old outfielder blasted 13 home runs and sported a .738 OPS across 100 games, which were up from the nine home runs and .683 OPS he posted a year earlier. Perez also swiped eight bases in 11 attempts, showing increased efficiency on the bases after he recorded nine steals on 15 attempts in 2024. Perez did see his playing time dwindle a bit during the ALDS as the Tigers turned to Kerry Carpenter in right field with Colt Keith serving as the DH after returning from an injury. Heading into 2026, Carpenter is likely to return to a DH role most days with Keith in the field, so Perez has a path to a sizeable role in right. The youngster has shown some promise across his first two MLB campaigns, but Detroit has plenty of pieces to mix and match with, so a prolonged slump at any point could push Perez to more of a bench role if someone else gets hot. Light workout at Comerica Park
Perez (orbital) played light catch on the field at Comerica Park on Tuesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Analysis
It's the first time Perez has done any baseball activities since he fractured an orbital bone in mid-June. Perez still has a long way to go in his rehab, and he's not eligible for activation from the 60-day injured list until mid-August.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2024
2023
2019
Perez had a solid if not spectacular rookie season for the Tigers in 2024. The 24-year-old slashed .242/.300/.383 with nine home runs, 37 RBI and 51 runs scored across 112 games. He also chipped in nine stolen bases in 14 attempts. While Perez played some middle infield during his time in the minors, he exclusively appeared in the outfield for Detroit. Moving forward, Perez's greatest fantasy asset appears to be his speed. He swiped 26 bags in 33 attempts across three levels of the minor leagues in 2023. Perez was less efficient on the bases last year in the majors, though it's encouraging to see him run fairly frequently. Perez also sported an impressive .890 OPS over 35 games during his taste of Triple-A in 2023, so there could be room for further offensive growth in his second MLB campaign. Heading into 2025, the Tigers appear to have Riley Greene and Parker Meadows locked in as outfield mainstays in left and center, respectively. That leaves right field for Perez, and he should have a path to regular playing time, though utility player Matt Vierling will likely factor into the mix as well. Perez doesn't offer the most exciting fantasy profile, but he should be good for a handful of steals with the potential to take his overall game a step forward.

Set to avoid surgery
Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Tuesday that Perez won't require surgery for the left orbital fracture he sustained June 16, but the outfielder lacks a clear timeline for a return, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. "It's not, from what I understand, where it's going to be something long term," Hinch said of Perez's injury. "But it doesn't mean it heals itself fast. He's feeling better and better and reporting progress."

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Roster spot seems secure
Perez's spot on the Tigers' Opening Day roster appears set with Matt Vierling out due to a rotator cuff injury, per Evan Woodbery of MLive.com.
Analysis
Perez flashed some potential as a rookie last year with a .242/.300/.383 slash line over 112 regular-season games, but he didn't enter camp with a guaranteed role for 2025. Vierling's injury will open up significant at-bats to begin the season, and Perez is best position to take advantage of that absence.
