2026 Fantasy Outlook
Troy, the No. 12 overall pick in 2023, turned 24 this offseason and will likely make his big-league debut sometime in 2026. He used his plus speed to steal 24 bases in 125 games across Double-A and Triple-A while hitting .289 with 15 home runs and a 16.9 precent strikeout rate. He was more effective at Double-A (121 wRC+) than at Triple-A (98 wRC+), and his groundball rate jumping from 41.6 percent to 51.9 percent was a primary factor. Amarillo and Reno are favorable home parks for hitters and Troy's .936 home OPS was almost 200 points higher than his .746 road OPS. The 5-foot-9 righty hitter projects as a second baseman who can move to shortstop, center field or left field when needed. He's not on the 40-man roster yet, but if he's producing at Triple-A, there will probably be room for Troy, even if it's just in a part-time role. Read Past Outlooks
Drives in two in win
Troy started in left field and went 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 8-1 win over the Angels.
Analysis
Troy evened the game at 1-1 with a second-inning triple and then singled home a run in the sixth. He's scuffled following a strong introduction to the majors and entered Wednesday on a 2-for-24 (.083) stretch. Despite that, he held onto a roster spot when Lourdes Gurriel was brought back from the injured list Monday. Instead, the Diamondbacks optioned Ryan Waldschmidt back to Triple-A Reno. Gurriel is expected to get the bulk of the work in left field, and it's unclear how long Arizona will keep Troy around in a role where the prospect isn't getting a steady dose of at-bats.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
He may not have any plus tools, but Troy is at least average in all facets of the game and has been a consistent performer from the Cape Cod League, to Stanford, to his pro debut. The No. 12 overall pick had a .917 OPS with a 17.3 percent strikeout rate with a wood bat on the Cape in 2022 and slashed .394/.478/.699 with 17 home runs and 17 steals (on 20 attempts) in 58 games as a junior. Troy was as advertised in his debut, slashing .271/.374/.469 with four home runs and nine steals on nine attempts in 27 games across rookie ball and High-A. Defensively, Troy profiles best at the keystone, but he could also be deployed at multiple positions depending on Arizona's need. He had surgery in September to remove bone fragments from his left foot but is expected to be ready for the season. Troy is a hard worker who has steadily improved every year. He should head to the hitter-friendly park at Double-A Amarillo for a good chunk of the year before potentially moving up to Triple-A, setting up a 2025 big-league debut.
