2026 Fantasy Outlook
Bradley once looked set to be a mainstay in the Rays rotation, but he took a step back last season which caused Tampa Bay to trade him to Minnesota, where the Twins will try to revive his strikeout potential. Bradley began the season in the Rays rotation with a new cutter to reduce his homers allowed (1.43 HR/9 in 2024). However, it didn't go well as he had a 4.61 ERA and a sharp decline in his strikeout rate (to 7.7 K/9 from 10.0 K/9 in 2024) in the first half before being sent to Triple-A. He was then traded to the Twins where he struggled once back in the majors with a 6.51 ERA and 1.72 HR/9, but at least an improved strikeout rate (9.2 K/9). Bradley has above average velocity (96.3 mph average fastball) but walks too many batters (9.3 BB%). His cutter improved slightly with a new grip, but it didn't make up for the decline in his splitter which went from a +4 Run Value pitch in 2024 to -4 last season, according to Baseball Savant. The Twins initially sent him to the minors after he was acquired to work on his splitter, so there's upside if his new organization can help him find the right pitch mix. He'll need to improve because he doesn't have a set spot in Minnesota's rotation and could begin the season in the bullpen or minors if he fails to impress this spring. Read Past Outlooks

Set to win rotation spot
PMinnesota Twins
March 20, 2026
With Zebby Matthews sent to the minors, Bradley solidified his spot in the rotation and will likely make his first start March 28 at Baltimore, Bobby Nightengale of the Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
Analysis
Bradley did enough this spring to win a spot with a 19:5 K:BB in 14 innings and a 4.50 ERA. He was set to play in the World Baseball Classic but stayed in spring training with the Twins to win a rotation spot. Bradley has above-average velocity (96.3 mph average fastball in 2025) but issues with walks (9.3 BB% last season) have limited his effectiveness.

Stat Review
How does Taj Bradley compare to other starting pitchers?
This section compares his stats with all starting pitcher seasons from the previous three seasons (minimum 120 innings)*. The bar represents the player's percentile rank. For example, if the bar is halfway across, then the player falls into the 50th percentile for that stat and it would be considered average.

* Exit Velocity, Barrels/BBE %, Balls Hit 95+ MPH %, and Spin Rate are benchmarked against 2019 data (min 120 IP). See here for more exit velocity/barrels stats plus an explanation of current limitations with that data set.
  • K/BB
    Strikeout to walk ratio.
  • K/9
    Average strikeouts per nine innings.
  • BB/9
    Average walks per nine innings.
  • HR/9
Average home runs allowed per nine innings.
  • Fastball
    Average fastball velocity.
  • ERA
Earned run average. The average earned runs allowed per nine innings.

Walks plus hits per inning pitched.
  • BABIP
Batting average on balls in play. Measures how many balls in play against a pitcher go for hits.
  • GB/FB
Groundball to flyball ratio. The higher the number, the more likely a pitcher is to induce groundballs.
  • Left On Base
The percentage of base runners that a pitcher strands on base over the course of a season.
  • Exit Velocity
The speed of the baseball as it comes off the bat, immediately after a batter makes contact.
  • Barrels/BBE
The percentage of batted ball events resulting in a Barrel. A Barrel is a batted ball with similar exit velocity and launch angle to past ones that led to a minimum .500 batting average and 1.500 slugging percentage.
  • Spin Rate
Spin Rate is the rate of spin on a baseball after it is released. It is measured in revolutions per minute (rpm).
  • Balls Hit 95+ MPH

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2023
2022
Bradley's 2024 season did not begin until Mothers' Day weekend due to a pectoral strain suffered during spring training. His first start back was a dominating one against the Yankees followed up by a solid outing against Boston before two ugly outings around a one-hit effort over five innings against Kansas City. Bradley then went on a nine-start tear where he was arguably the best pitcher in the league, going 5-1 with a 0.82 ERA while holding batters to a .161 average with a 22.3% K-BB%. Bradley appeared to be on a run similar to what Blake Snell did in 2023, but it was not meant to be as Bradley went 2-7 the rest of the season with a 6.51 ERA with a 1.9 HR/9 as batters hit .288 against him over his final 11 starts. Failure is only failure if you do not learn from it, and perhaps the giant dose of humble pie that Bradley was forced to eat down the stretch is something he can grow from and use for 2025. He did close the season winning two of his last three starts while not allowing a home run in any of those outings.
Much was expected from Bradley heading into the 2023 season, and he delivered on a portion of that. The best thing we could say about Bradley is he struck out 28% of the batters he faced in his rookie season with a 19.6% K-BB%. That is where the fantasy accolades end because his other efforts were hurtful to many fantasy rosters. Bradley struggled with his command and the misses within the strike zone often led to homers as he allowed 32 homers in 142.1 innings of work between Durham and Tampa Bay. Bradley's 2023 season looks a lot like Triston McKenzie's 2021 season, which is what fantasy managers should look at for hope this season. Bradley's curveball and changeup got the job done, but the misses with his fastball and cutter led to 20 of the 23 homers he allowed at the big league level. Kyle Snyder has an outstanding track record of helping pitchers improve their execution and Bradley is quite capable of doing in 2024 whan McKenzie did in 2022.
Bradley put up an ERA north of 2.00 for the first time since 2019 when he logged a 3.66 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 53:15 K:BB in 12 starts (59 innings) at Triple-A. His 177.2-inning stretch from Single-A to High-A to Double-A across 2021 and 2022 where he kept his ERA under 2.00 with a 0.92 WHIP and 211:49 K:BB is one of the best prolonged statistical runs a pitching prospect has had in recent memory. All the while, Bradley has had his top two pitches down -- a mid-90s fastball with good life and a hard cutter that eats hitters up. He still hasn't added a reliable third offering, but his athleticism and command are well ahead of the typical 21-year-old starting pitcher. The Rays enter the season without need of Bradley's services in the rotation, so he should return to Triple-A for at least a month or two to try to develop a third pitch he can use when he makes his big-league debut this summer.
Bradley may still be a little underrated, but he fully broke out in 2021. The athletic 6-foot-2 righty logged a 1.83 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 123:31 K:BB in 103.1 innings across Low-A and High-A. He had a run from May 25 through Aug. 6 where he was borderline untouchable, registering a 0.76 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 70 strikeouts in 59 innings across 12 starts. Bradley boasts a mid-90s fastball and a blazing fast slider that he locates well. His curveball and changeup are still coming along, but given the Rays' track record and Bradley's youth (turns 21 in March), the expectation is that he will have a full, dominant repertoire by the time he reaches the majors. A lot can go wrong with pitching prospects who are over a year away from the majors, even ones as talented as Bradley, but he is one of the few such pitchers worth coveting in dynasty leagues.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Floated as trade candidate
PTampa Bay Rays
July 21, 2025
Bradley is seen as the likeliest of the Rays' starting pitchers with multiple years of team control to be traded, Kiley McDaniel and Jeff Passan of ESPN.com report.
Analysis
Bradley has had an up-and-down 2025 season with a 4.35 ERA and 20.7 percent strikeout rate, but he has pitched well of late in allowing only one run across his last two starts. The Rays are in no hurry to trade the righty given that he is under team control through 2028, but they will listen to offers for the 24-year-old Bradley, who represents an intriguing upside target for contenders.
