2026 Fantasy Outlook
Last year was a big win for those in dynasty leagues betting on Stewart's high-end hit tool eventually unlocking above-average or better power. He closed the year hitting 15 home runs in 56 games across Triple-A and the majors, logging a .315 ISO in the International League and a .291 ISO in MLB as he logged career-best groundball rates below 38 percent at each stop. He has been a remarkably strong hitter throughout his pro career, logging strikeout rates below 18 percent, a batting average over .275 and a wRC+ over 125 at every minor-league stop en route to his big-league debut Sept. 1. He slashed .255/.291/.545 with a 5.2 percent walk rate and 25.9 percent strikeout rate. His xSlash of .296/.412/.651 and 52.5 HardHit% portend a strong sophomore campaign, as he'll likely strike out less and walk more in his age-22 season. Stewart, who enters the year eligible at first base, can play third, second and first, although it's possible he gets a good deal of run at designated hitter in 2026. He has stolen between 10 and 17 bases each of the last three years in the minors, but he didn't attempt a steal in the majors and is an average runner at best. Read Past Outlooks

Analysis
Stewart went deep in the sixth inning off Shota Imanaga, his 10th home run of the season and first RBI in 11 games. The rookie has been grinding of late and entered Thursday's contest on a 4-for-40 (.100) run over the last 10 contests, though he still has an .830 OPS for the season.

Stewart once again excelled as a hitter, although he was limited to 80 games due to a wrist injury that ended up needing surgery. The No. 32 overall pick in 2022, Stewart slashed .279/.391/.454 with eight home runs, a 14.8 percent walk rate and a 16.9 percent strikeout rate at High-A. His 27.1 percent hard-hit rate was decent for a player his age, while his 11.8 percent soft-hit rate was elite. Stewart makes contact at a strong clip (79.6 percent) and makes very good swing decisions, so it's just a question of which position he'll play and how much power he'll get to in games. Early in the year, he was such a good hitter that he was barreling a lot of balls to dead center field, which limited his home run output. Stewart is a better defender at third base than org. mate Cam Collier, so if one of them has to move to first base, Collier is the more likely option. While Stewart has seen time at second base, he probably doesn't have the mobility to play there long term. Assuming he makes a full recovery from wrist surgery, Stewart is an obvious candidate to break out as a power hitter in 2025, and he's already on track to have at least an above-average hit tool.

Gets nod for NL POTW
Stewart was named the National League Player of the Week for the opening week of the 2026 regular season.
Analysis
Stewart opened the regular-season strongly by going 3-for-4 with two doubles against the Red Sox on Thursday, but in that contest he took a 110-mph line drive off his wrist in the fifth inning. He was able to shake off the injury to play in each of the final two games of the series, during which he went 4-for-6 with one home run, two RBI and two runs scored. Stewart made his major-league debut Sept. 1 of 2025 and is expected to split his reps between first base and DH this season.
