2026 Fantasy Outlook
The beginning of Sasaki's tenure with the Dodgers was rocky, to say the least. The 24-year-old posted a 4.72 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 29:22 K:BB over 34.1 innings covering his first eight starts of the season before landing on the injured list with a right shoulder impingement. Sasaki would not make another start with the big club in 2025, finally returning as a reliever in late September after a mechanical adjustment unlocked his stuff. He then thrived out of the bullpen in a couple late regular-season appearances and in the playoffs. Sasaki will be given another chance to start in 2026, and the upside remains tantalizing. That said, he'll be a major wild card for fantasy purposes from a performance standpoint, and even if he pitches well, the workload could be relatively limited. Read Past Outlooks
Gives up seven runs, takes loss
Sasaki (3-4) was tagged with the loss Friday against the White Sox, allowing seven runs on seven hits and three walks across 4.1 innings. He struck out four.
Analysis
Sasaki was coming off one of the most dominant outings of his career, striking out 10 across seven shutout innings in a no-decision against the Angels on June 5. However, he couldn't keep it rolling against one of the hottest offenses in the AL. Sasaki seemed to be finding his groove, as he had gone four straight starts allowing two or fewer earned runs before Friday. He'll look to bounce back in his next start, which is lined up to come at home against the Rays.

2025 Fantasy Outlook
As a 20-year-old NPB phenom, Sasaki threw a perfect game and followed that up with eight perfect innings in his next start. Three years later, he's set to get his shot at the MLB level. He's sure to generate a ton of interest due to his youth and potential, but there's plenty of downside with Sasaki as well. First and foremost are durability concerns. He topped out at 20 starts and 129.1 innings in 2022 and has averaged 16.5 starts and 101 innings over the last two years while battling oblique and arm issues. He's taking steps to address those concerns by decreasing his fastball velocity and pitching to contact more often, with his fastball now sitting in the upper 90s instead of triple digits and his K% falling from 39.1% in 2023 to 28.6% in 2024. That could mean Sasaki is simply getting worse rather than making a conscious decision to stay healthy, as it did result in a career-high ERA - but when a 2.35 ERA represents a career high, expect MLB teams to remain very interested.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Primary option in save situations
Sasaki will operate as the Dodgers' primary option in save situations, Dave Roberts told Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times this week.
Analysis
Sasaki recorded a one-out save in Game 2 of the NLDS against the Phillies after retiring Trea Turner with runners on the corners and two outs in a 4-3 win Monday. It was the first time in his MLB career that he was called upon in the middle of an inning, but it's worth noting that Sasaki has finished three of the Dodgers' four postseason games so far.
