2025 Fantasy Outlook
Bido proved to be a nice addition for the A's after he was non-tendered by the Pirates in November of 2023. He made 16 appearances between the rotation and bullpen, pitching to a 3.41 ERA and 1.09 WHIP over 63.1 MLB innings before right wrist flexor tendonitis ended his season. He had an 11.81 ERA the third time through the order, which leaves open the distinct possibility that his future lies in the bullpen. His four-seamer, slider, changeup and cutter all had xBAs under .200 last season, and with that kind of repertoire, the book is not closed on Bido starting. Despite the team context, Bido might be worth a flier to see if he can break camp with a rotation spot. Read Past Outlooks

Nabs win in season debut
Bido (1-0) earned the victory in Saturday's start against Seattle, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and four walks while striking out four batters over five-plus innings.
ANALYSIS
Bido wasn't particularly sharp in the outing, as he issued four free passes, hit two batters and threw just 45 of 81 pitches for strikes. However, he limited the Mariners to just one earned run (due in part to inducing two double plays) and emerged with the win. Bido posted a 3.7 BB/9 in each of his first two big-league seasons, so control hasn't been his strong point. However, he's locked into a spot in Oakland's rotation and has some fantasy upside after posting a 3.41 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 9.0 K/9 in his first season with the Athletics last year.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Bido made his big-league debut in his age-27 season with the Pirates in 2023, though he didn't find much success in a split role between starting and relief. He relies primarily on a fastball, slider and sinker, but he doesn't generate many swings and misses and has only a moderate groundball rate. That leaves Bido without a clear path to getting outs. After the close of the 2023 season, he was non-tendered by the Pirates but quickly struck a deal with the Athletics. That gives him a legitimate shot at a roster spot out of spring training, with the benefit of playing in one of the more spacious home parks around the league. He could be a streaming option in good matchups, but that's the best-case scenario entering 2024.

Could debut Monday
Bido is a possibility to start Monday's game in Washington, reports Mike Persak of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
ANALYSIS
The Pirates have yet to announce who will start Monday's game, but Bido would be available to pitch on full rest. The other option would be a bullpen game. If called upon, Bido would be making his major-league debut. The 26-year-old has struggled with command and giving up the long ball this season and has a 4.86 ERA with 10 homers allowed and a 46:36 K:BB in 50 innings for Triple-A Indianapolis.
