2026 Fantasy Outlook
Parker got off to a flying start in 2025, posting a 1.39 ERA in 32.1 innings across his first five starts of the season. Those good feelings were short lived, as he went on to log a 5-15 record over his next 25 starts while sporting a 7.00 ERA and 1.60 WHIP over 126 innings, which prompted the Nationals to move the southpaw to the bullpen in September. Parker's role in 2026 is unclear, and given that he ranked near the bottom of qualified pitchers in xBA, xERA and strikeout rate, he would provide limited fantasy value even if he were a part of Washington's rotation by Opening Day. July 1, 2026
The Nationals transferred Parker (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Wednesday.
Analysis
Parker is likely to undergo Tommy John surgery after being diagnosed with a Grade 3 UCL sprain in his left elbow, so the Nationals will stash him away on the 60-day IL for the rest of the season. The move creates space on the 40-man roster for Kyle Nicolas, who was acquired from Baltimore on Wednesday.

* Exit Velocity, Barrels/BBE %, Balls Hit 95+ MPH %, and Spin Rate are benchmarked against 2019 data (min 30 IP). See here for more exit velocity/barrels stats plus an explanation of current limitations with that data set.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2024
Parker beat the eventual world champion Dodgers in his big-league debut in April, and while there were bumps in the road from there, his final numbers as a rookie were highly respectable. The left-hander made 29 starts and totaled 151 innings for the Nationals, pitching to a 4.29 ERA and 1.30 WHIP. HIs fastball is lacking and can get touched up, but his splitter and slider both had whiff rates over 35 percent last season, hinting at room for growth with his strikeout rate even with his below-average velocity. He had a nine-run disaster Aug. 15 at Philadelphia which should serve as a reminder of his downside in the wrong matchup. Eventually he could shed the streamer label, but at least for now Parker should be deployed judiciously, if rostered.
A 24-year-old lefty, Parker has been a notable prospect in a shallow Nationals farm system for a couple years, but poor control and middling stuff limited his realistic upside. Parker primarily operates with a 92-mph four-seamer with solid movement and an 80-mph curveball while also mixing in a mid-80s splitter. He walked between 11.1 and 15.4 percent of batters from 2022 through 2023 while pitching in the mid-to-upper minors, and he doesn't have the pure stuff to have success with that many free passes, but only issued one walk in his first two starts of 2024, with one of those coming against the Dodgers' big-league lineup. Assuming Parker spends a good chunk of 2024 in the big-league rotation, he could be a deep-league streamer in good matchups, but there's not much data to suggest he can maintain the success he's had early in the season.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Candidate for Tommy John surgery
PWashington Nationals
July 1, 2026
Parker, who was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday due to elbow inflammation, could require Tommy John surgery, manager Blake Butera told Mark Zuckerman of NatsJournal.com.
Analysis
Even though Parker was placed on the 15-day injured list, all signs point to him missing not only the rest of the 2026 season but also a big chunk of the 2027 campaign. Parker pitched out of the bullpen for the Nats this season, posting a 6.58 ERA and 34:13 K:BB over 39.2 innings of work. Parker should be transferred to the 60-day injured list as soon as the Nats need his 40-man roster spot.
