2026 Fantasy Outlook
Leiter was non-tendered by the Yankees after the 2025 campaign after the right-hander posted a 4.84 ERA and 1.53 WHIP over 48.1 regular-season innings. However, the 34-year-old's 3.55 FIP and 54:17 K:BB were encouraging, which earned him a one-year, $3 million deal with the Athletics for 2026. Leiter's K-rate sunk to just 24.7 percent in 2025, but he's struck out 28.3 percent of the batters he's faced over the past four regular seasons and he could be in the mix for saves as part of an unsettled Athletics bullpen. Picks up second save
Miller earned a save against the Rangers on Tuesday, striking out two batters over a scoreless inning of work.
Analysis
Leiter had just a one-run lead to work with when he entered in the ninth, but he breezed through a 1-2-3 inning on just 13 pitches. The right-hander recorded the Athletics' first save of the season March 31 against Atlanta, but he had blown his subsequent save chances (both of which were eighth-inning appearances) coming into Tuesday. Over the past week, Joel Kuhnel posted two saves for the team while Hogan Harris recorded one, so it's anyone's guess who will get the next opportunity. The Athletics' closer situation appears to be a full-fledged committee, making it tough to approach from a fantasy angle.

Leiter had one of the most devastating splitters in the league in 2024, ranking second for that pitch type with a 56.5 percent whiff rate and .099 batting average allowed. The split-finger fueled the 33-year-old righty to a career-high 86 strikeouts in just 58 innings between the Cubs and Yankees. However, Leiter was not effective after the mid-season trade to New York, struggling to a 4.98 ERA and 1.71 WHIP with six home runs allowed over his final 21.2 frames. He's projected to take on a middle relief role for the Yankees in 2025.
