2026 Fantasy Outlook
After beating out Hayden Birdsong for a spot in the Giants' 2025 Opening Day rotation, Roupp went on to make 22 starts before a comebacker off his left knee ended his season in August. Roupp had a bit of an elbow scare before that, but he was back throwing bullpen sessions by mid-September, which set him up for a relatively normal offseason. While Roupp's 1.48 WHIP was an eyesore, he was effective in terms of run prevention with a 3.80 ERA over 106.2 innings. His sinker was knocked around, but he held opponents below .200 on both his curveball and changeup. The 27-year-old is not going to overpower anyone with his stuff, and his walk rate is a bit high, but Roupp showed enough to safely project as a member of the starting rotation entering 2026. Roupp (5-5) took the loss Monday against the Diamondbacks, allowing four runs (two earned) on seven hits and one walk while striking out seven over five innings.
Analysis
Roupp looked sharp early and had allowed just one run through four innings, with the lone blemish being a Gabriel Moreno solo homer in the third. However, things unraveled in a wild fifth inning as San Francisco's defense committed two errors that led to a pair of unearned runs and forced an earlier than expected exit for the right-hander. Despite the loss, Roupp tied his season high with seven strikeouts, and the homer he allowed was only the third he has surrendered all season. He has now completed six innings just once over his last five starts but still owns a strong 3.30 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 68:22 K:BB across 60 innings. Roupp is scheduled to face the Rockies on the road Sunday.

Roupp has risen from relative obscurity as a 12th-round pick out of UNC Wilmington in 2021. He was something of a surprise addition to the Giants' Opening Day roster last season, though he was sent down in late April after posting a 5.27 ERA and 1.61 WHIP in his first 13.2 innings out of the bullpen. The right-hander continued to pitch in relief at the big-league level in the months that followed while riding the shuttle between levels as San Francisco made full use of his option. He got a brief four-start audition in the rotation at the very end of the campaign, which was a success until his final outing. His sinker-curveball approach gives him a groundball lean and would make Roupp an interesting home streaming candidate at spacious Oracle Park if he were to nail down a rotation spot.
