2026 Fantasy Outlook
After beating out Hayden Birdsong for a spot in the Giants' 2025 Opening Day rotation, Roupp went on to make 22 starts before a comebacker off his left knee ended his season in August. Roupp had a bit of an elbow scare before that, but he was back throwing bullpen sessions by mid-September, which set him up for a relatively normal offseason. While Roupp's 1.48 WHIP was an eyesore, he was effective in terms of run prevention with a 3.80 ERA over 106.2 innings. His sinker was knocked around, but he held opponents below .200 on both his curveball and changeup. The 27-year-old is not going to overpower anyone with his stuff, and his walk rate is a bit high, but Roupp showed enough to safely project as a member of the starting rotation entering 2026. Roupp (6-8) earned the win over Toronto on Monday, allowing one run on three hits and two walks while striking out five batters over eight innings.
Analysis
Roupp breezed through five scoreless frames before Kazuma Okamoto tagged him for a solo homer in the sixth. That ended up being the only run the right-hander allowed en route to his eighth quality start of the season. The outing was particularly impressive because Roupp logged a season-high eight innings after going a season-low 2.2 frames while walking six batters and allowing six runs in a loss to Arizona in his previous start. He's had some bad blowups this season, but overall Roupp has managed a survivable 4.27 ERA along with a 1.31 WHIP and 104:42 K:BB over 97 innings spanning 18 starts.

Roupp has risen from relative obscurity as a 12th-round pick out of UNC Wilmington in 2021. He was something of a surprise addition to the Giants' Opening Day roster last season, though he was sent down in late April after posting a 5.27 ERA and 1.61 WHIP in his first 13.2 innings out of the bullpen. The right-hander continued to pitch in relief at the big-league level in the months that followed while riding the shuttle between levels as San Francisco made full use of his option. He got a brief four-start audition in the rotation at the very end of the campaign, which was a success until his final outing. His sinker-curveball approach gives him a groundball lean and would make Roupp an interesting home streaming candidate at spacious Oracle Park if he were to nail down a rotation spot.
