2026 Fantasy Outlook
Guzman's 2026 path became a bit clouded when the Angels acquired Vaughn Grissom during the Winter Meetings. Guzman had an espresso shot of major league time last year and struck out in 22 of his 43 plate appearances, which likely accelerated the club's plans to find a shortstop who was more big-league ready. Guzman turns 22 in February and has accelerated through the system as most Angels prospects do, and has not surprisingly struggled to make consistent contact at every level. He has a 10.1% walk rate as a minor league, but that also comes with a 25.3% strikeout rate which has worsened as he has been rushed up the organziational ladder. Simply put, he needs a lot more seasoning but the Angels are likely going to throw him into the fire this season, so just look at 2025 Christian Moore's stats and decide whether you want those on your roster. Sent down to Salt Lake
The Angels optioned Guzman to Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday.
Analysis
Guzman had himself a nice spring, going 5-for-17 at the dish with a home run, two RBI and four runs scored through nine Cactus League contests. However, after posting a .566 OPS and striking out 22 times in 13 MLB games last year, the Angels will send him back to Triple-A to begin the 2026 campaign. The 22-year-old infielder could receive a promotion to Los Angeles midway through the season if he continues to hit well and improves his discipline at the plate.

Analysis
A 6-foot-2, 178-pound shortstop from the Dominican Republic who is expected to eventually end up at third base, Guzman is a bat-first player who could grow into plus power. He has a simple setup from the right side and then explodes through contact.
