2026 Fantasy Outlook
Perhaps it was more wishcasting than prudent analysis for those taking a chance on Dollander, but he was unable to tame Coors Field. Maybe that changes someday, but for now the park a mile above sea level remains undefeated. One of the league's top pitching prospects entering the season, Dollander opened at Triple-A Albuquerque before making his major league debut. He logged 21 starts and 98 innings, struggling with an 18.6 percent strikeout rate, an elevated 11.1 percent walk rate and a 1.65 HR/9. As expected, he performed much better on the road, posting a 3.46 ERA and 1.17 WHIP, while Coors proved disastrous with a 9.98 ERA and 1.98 WHIP. Dollander dealt with a blister issue and forearm tightness, but those issues did not affect his road results and cannot fully explain the home struggles. His away performance highlights the upside, but sustained success at Coors Field remains a hurdle almost no pitcher has consistently cleared. Read Past Outlooks
Shut down for 2-to-3 weeks
Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer said Wednesday that Dollander (elbow) will be shut down from throwing for the next 2-to-3 weeks, MLB.com reports.
Analysis
Dollander landed on the 15-day injured list last week due to a right elbow sprain. He will opt for a rest-and-rehab treatment plan for the time being, though it will take a while for Dollander to rebuild his stamina following the shutdown period. A timetable for Dollander's return won't become clearer until he starts ramping up his throwing again.

2025 Fantasy Outlook
Dollander is one of the best pitchers in the minors, but his dynasty value doesn't match his real-life value, given that he'll be pitching half his games in Coors Field. He had a 2.59 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 169 strikeouts in 118 innings across 23 starts between High-A and Double-A and showed no signs of slowing down. There is no recent prospect with this big of a gap between where they're ranked on real-life lists and dynasty lists. If you've been playing fantasy baseball for a while, you know how rare it is for a Rockies starter to be good enough to roster and start in fantasy for the majority a season. Ubaldo Jimenez from 2009-10 and German Marquez in 2018 are the two most obvious examples from the past 20 years, and in other years where a Rockies starter finished with decent surface stats, they probably weren't started much more than 50 percent of the time in fantasy. On the flip side, one could argue Dollander, the No. 9 overall pick in 2023, is the best pitcher to come through this system in two decades, so if someone were to join Jimenez and Marquez and post a truly valuable fantasy season, he's a great candidate. Look for him to make more starts in the majors than the minors in 2025.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Expected to start Sunday
The Rockies have promoted Dollander to the big-league club, and he's expected to start Sunday against the Athletics, according to Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com.
Analysis
There's an opening on the Rockies' 40-man roster, so the club will only need to make a corresponding active roster move. The 23-year-old right-hander is widely seen as Colorado's top pitching prospect, and it was a matter of when, not if, he would pitch at the MLB level in 2025.
