2026 Fantasy Outlook
Tidwell got a welcomed change of scenery when the Mets dealt him to the Giants at the 2025 deadline as part of the return for Tyler Rogers. The writing was on the wall that Tidwell didn't figure into the Mets' long-term rotation plans, but he could compete for a spot in the Giants rotation in camp, particularly with his college skipper Tony Vitello taking over as manager in San Francisco. The 6-foot-4 righty works with multiple fastballs, sitting in the mid-90s, and two slider variations, and the Giants will likely work with him this spring to maximize his arsenal. He missed some time at the end of 2025 with a sore shoulder, but made one scoreless two-inning appearance Sept. 17 to close the year with a clean bill of health. Pitching half your games in San Francisco and throwing to Patrick Bailey is a great place to start, and Tidwell has more breakout potential than may meet the eye, particularly relative to his 9.00 ERA and 10:10 K:BB in his15 MLB innings last year. The Giants optioned Tidwell to Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis
Tidwell struck out five across 5.2 innings during spring training but also had his share of troubles, surrendering seven earned runs on eight hits and five walks. The right-hander had a 9.00 ERA and 10:10 K:BB across 15 frames in his first taste of the majors last year, and it should only be a matter of time before the Giants bring him back up to the big club this season.

Tidwell was promoted from Double-A Binghamton to Triple-A Syracuse in May and appeared to have a chance of making his MLB debut late in 2024, but he struggled in 19 outings for Syracuse with a 5.93 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 77:53 K:BB across 85 innings. The 23-year-old right-hander is still one of the organization's top prospects, but he'll likely need to cut down on his 5.6 BB/9 before graduating to the majors.
