Closer Watch – A closer look at intriguing ninth-inning situations (also check out our Closer Grid)
Baltimore – Kevin Gregg blew his third save of the season Monday, two of which have come in the last week. There hasn't been much talk of Gregg losing his job, but Koji Uehara has made an argument to take over the role if ever a change is made. Through 17 innings, Uehara has posted a 2.65 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and a 19:5 K:BB ratio.
Los Angeles (AL) – Jordan Walden blew his third save of the season, and second in the last week, against the Athletics on Monday. While there hasn't been much talk about the team making a change, Scott Downs looks to be the guy that would take over if they do decide to make a switch.
San Diego – Mike Adams picked up a multi-inning save against the Diamondbacks on Monday. He pitched 1.2 innings to earn the save, and the game was never close enough to justify bringing in Heath Bell. Don't worry Bell owners; this was a unique situation.

Recommended Pickup
Danny Duffy, SP, KC – Duffy will be called up by the Royals to make his first career major league start Wednesday. The 22-year-old, highly touted prospect has been firing on all cylinders in the minors this season. Over 36 innings with Triple-A Omaha, Duffy has posted a 3.00 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and 43:10 K:BB ratio. Vin Mazzaro was originally slotted to make a few starts with Bruce Chen on the DL, but Mazzaro was sent back down to the minors after giving up 14 earned runs (!) in relief Monday. That hurt just to type. The Royals should buy Mazzaro some time with a sports psychologist after that experience. Duffy will get at least a few starts, and there's a chance he could stay with the team for the rest of season since he arguably became the Royals' best starter the moment his call up was announced. Duffy's pedigree makes him worth grabbing him in any league; so if you're looking for a replacement for John Lackey or Brandon Beachy, don't look much further (unless Julio Teheran is available as well).
