It's been a little more than five years since we've changed our website, and it's time to take advantage of new technology and improve the user experience, primary for mobile users. More of our traffic increasingly comes from mobile devices and phones – climbing to 64 percent this year. RotoWire.com is now responsive to the size of the screen you are using. It works well in iPhones, Android phones, iPads and all kinds of devices that our old design made hard to use without a lot of zooming in.
However, we didn't want to shortchange our desktop users. The substantial real estate that the desktop experience offers is ideal for fantasy sports with all the tables, charts and columns of data used in the hobby. Our new design keeps the desktop experience in place while allowing you to also access those same tables and grids of data on smaller devices in a format that won't cause your phone to come to a crawl.
Our new design improves desktop navigation with drop-down menus across all the top sports. It also integrates all the daily fantasy sports (DFS) content within each sport. You will be able to switch more easily between the DFS and season-long tools, and also find many of our deeper pages that were buried in the footer of our old design. In tablets and phones, navigation can be found by a shrinking the top navigation bar that increases with the size of the screen. Click on "more" on the right to quickly get a menu of all RotoWire has to offer.
We've also added full sections for all our sports, adding feature stories and more tools for WNBA, Cricket, CFL and Euroleague basketball. With our redesign, we're also launching coverage of fantasy tennis. We'll be covering the new fantasy tennis game at DraftKings, as well as fantasy games at PlayOn, FantasyTennisLeague.com and WTA Fantasy Tennis.
We've added more ways to sort our player notes. You can view our player notes via "compact" mode that shows only the headline. Click on the headline to expand and view the full news and analysis. Or view the player news pages in "Expanded" mode to see them in the prior default format.
While we've launched our new look, it's a work in progress. The redesign is active on all the RotoWire.com pages except the blog and MLB Commissioner service. We plan to redesign the MLB Commissioner service in time for the 2019 season. With the redesign, we've discontinued our standalone forum area and our user generated polls. Subscribers can still make comments, interact with authors and give us feedback in the form below the end of feature stories (such as below!). We've also created a RotoWire subscriber-only Slack channel for pregame info and in-game banter (send an email to support@rotowire.com for exclusive access).
We've tested out the new design on most browsers and devices, but there could be some that cause problems. Please let us know if you encounter any issues.
Lastly, we want to hear your feedback. Do you like it? Too confusing? Did we forget to include a feature you liked before? Did you find a bug? What could we do to make it even better? We want to hear your thoughts, so please respond in the comments below.
Thanks for being a RotoWire.com customer and best wishes for a great 2018 fantasy sports season.
