Lucumi had a relatively quiet night defensively for much of the game, as Congo struggled to get forward with any real threat. He did have a difficult spell dealing with Yoane Wissa in duels, which eventually led to a yellow card for a foul on the winger. However, as Congo pushed for an equalizer late on, Lucumi stepped up and put in a commanding defensive shift, racking up clearances and contributing a crucial block. He finished the game as the team's leader in clearances with six, adding one interception and one block. He was also important in build-up play, completing 50 passes and delivering six long balls.
