Cristian Espinoza
30-Year-Old
Nashville SC
MLS
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Espinoza was the only bright spot for San Jose in 2024. He scored four goals and added 14 assists in what was one of the worst offenses in the league. It speaks to Espinoza's talent that he was productive even in such a dreadful year. With wholesale changes throughout the starting XI, the future is uncertain for Espinoza, though it's unlikely anyone takes his set-piece role. If he gets a truly elite striker to finish his chances he could push for MVP candidacy, if not, he could be left making the most of a bad situation for yet another year.
Heading to Nashville
Espinoza is a new signing for Nashville through 2028 with options to extend through June 2029 and the 2029/30 season after ending his contract with San Jose Earthquakes prior to 2026, his new club announced Friday.
ANALYSIS
Espinoza adds attacking midfield strength to his new team, especially for his ability on the right flank and on set pieces. The two-time MLS All-Star finished the previous campaign with four goals and eight assists over 31 matches played. Before that, he had even more impressive periods, tallying double-digit scoring and assist totals in 2023 and 2024, respectively. He's currently expected to challenge Alex Muyl and Jonathan Perez (thigh) on the right wing.
