Santiago Gimenez Injury: Sidelined for Sassuolo game

Gimenez (ankle) "is improving and will try to return as soon as possible, but he won't be called up for Sunday" coach Massimiliano Allegri announced.

Gimenez will skip another contest even though he seemed close, and it has yet to be determined whether he'll make the trip to Saudi Arabia for the Supercoppa next week. He'll have a fortnight to recuperate ahead of the next Serie A game against Verona on December 28. With Rafael Leao (thigh) on the shelf, Christian Pulisic and Christopher Nkunku will form the frontline against Sassuolo.
