O'Neil made 21 starts in 24 MLS appearances (including the playoffs) during the 2025 season.

O'Neil joined NYCFC in May and quickly became a key presence in the midfield, especially after Keaton Parks' absence. Over 1,871 minutes played, he registered 54 tackles (16 successful), 24 clearances, and contributed solid defensive work throughout the season. With O'Neil projected to make Australia's 2026 World Cup roster, he is expected to play a significant role as a defensive midfielder for NYCFC, especially following the losses of both Parks and Andres Perea.
