Euro 2016: Monday Cheat Sheet

MATCHES (EDT)

3:00 p.m: Wales v. Russia
3:00 p.m: England v. Slovakia

ODDS REPORT

EXPECTED CORNER TAKERS

Wales: Aaron Ramsey
Russia: Oleg Shatov, Fedor Smolov
England: Wayne Rooney
Slovakia: Robert Mak

PLAYERS OF INTEREST

GOALKEEPER

Wayne Hennessey, WAL v. RUS: England are heavy favorites over Slovakia, so there will be plenty of people choosing to go with Joe Hart. However, the Wales-Russia match should be close, and while the Wales defense hasn't been rock tight, Russia have scored just once in each of their first two matches. Put simply: would you prefer the goalie who plays with Gareth Bale or the one facing him?

DEFENDER

Igor Smolnikov, RUS v. WAL: After a fairly limited opening match, Smolnikov was a big piece of the Russian attack, sending in seven crosses and drawing two fouls. There aren't many high-crossing defenders on the slate, but Smolnikov could provide a nice floor.

Vaseli Berezutski, RUS v. WAL: Berezutski has shown his versatility in the first two matches of the tournament, as he scored a goal on two shots in the first match against England and then won five tackles and had three interceptions against Slovakia. Given the strength of the Wales attack, Berezutski could get plenty of tackle opportunities.

James Chester, WAL v. RUS: Chester has been picking up a fair number of non-crossing peripheral stats, as he had two fouls drawn, two tackles won and four interceptions in Wales' first match, and he followed that up with

James Chester, WAL v. RUS: Chester has been picking up a fair number of non-crossing peripheral stats, as he had two fouls drawn, two tackles won and four interceptions in Wales' first match, and he followed that up with four tackles won and five interceptions (and one shot) against England. Again, there are not many high-upside defenders, so find some cheaper ones who can contribute elsewhere and move on.

MIDFIELDER

Aaron Ramsey, WAL v. RUS: Being on corners gives Ramsey a solid floor, and he's contributing across the stat sheet enough that he's reached double-digit fantasy points on DraftKings in back-to-back games despite no goals and just one assist.

Marek Hamsik, SVK v. ENG: If Slovakia are to get a result against England, it'll likely be because of a big game from Hamsik, who had a goal and an assist against Russia in their last match. He's reached double-digit fantasy points in both Euro games, and while expensive, he'll be very active.

Denis Glushakov, RUS v. WAL: Glushakov played very well in his 45-minute stint against Slovakia earlier this week, bagging a goal on three shots while adding two crosses, three interceptions and a tackle won. His spot in the starting lineup is far from guaranteed, but he could provide very solid value if he makes it.

FORWARD

Daniel Sturridge, ENG v. SVK: After moving into the starting lineup for England's last match, Sturridge's price on DraftKings rose from $7,100 to $9,200, and he's still a very viable option at the increased salary. He's extremely active in the attack, taking shots as often as possible, and while some fantasy players could move toward Jamie Vardy ($9,500), his floor is definitely lower.

Gareth Bale, WAL v. RUS: Bale has been very solid in Wales' first two matches of the tournament, scoring 22 and 15 fantasy points, respectively. He's going to take any set pieces that are close to the box, and while he's a bit goal dependent, he has by far the best odds to score.

Fedor Smolov, RUS v. WAL:Artem Dzyuba probably has the highest upside of any Russian attacker, but Smolov showed his versatility in the attack against Slovakia earlier this week, taking four shots and sending in four crosses. With a few key expensive options on the slate, Smolov could provide some needed salary relief.
