William Sawalich

Joe Gibbs Racing
2026 Fantasy Outlook
His first full-time effort in the O'Reilly Series would bear mixed fruit in 2025. Sawalich would rack up nine Top-10 finishes and collect one pole position, but he wouldn't get a sniff of victory lane. The now 19-year-old driver will get another full plate with Joe Gibbs Racing this season again in the No. 18 Toyota. Growth will be expected, more competitive racing will also be expected. Based on Sawalich's success in 2023 and 2024 in the ARCA Menards Series, it's a reasonable expectation. He'll once again be paired with Jeff Meendering at crew chief and the two will look to continue building on what they started last season. Sawalich will need to find victory lane this season and increase his appearances in the Top 10 if he hopes to climb both these rankings and the driver point standings. Read Past Outlooks
Fourth in Focused Health 250
O'Reilly Auto Parts Series
July 12, 2026
Sawalich finished fourth in Saturday's Focused Health 250 NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series race at EchoPark Speedway.
ANALYSIS
Sawalich's fourth-place finish in Atlanta, coupled with issues for teammates Brent Crews and Taylor Gray, has moved the second-year driver closer to the playoff cut line, as he now sits 21 points back of 12th place. In a race filled with cautions that saw a number of contenders DNF, Sawalich was able to take advantage by keeping the No. 18 car in one piece. Next for the series is a trip to Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where Sawalich finished sixth as a rookie.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2024
The young prospect gets the big promotion to the No. 18 Toyota and the Xfinity Series this season. Sawalich made just three starts in this division last season with little opportunity to impress. However, he did grab a surprising pole position in the season finale at Phoenix. Sawalich is coming off two impressive seasons of racing in the ARCA Menards Series where he captured 13 combined victories and 25 Top-10 finishes spread across 27 starts. That utter domination is what has quickly propelled him up the NASCAR ladder. Joe Gibbs Racing has signed him to make a bid for Rookie of the Year and fill the seat of one of the team's high-profile rides. He has been a short track specialist to this point in his career, so we expect immediate results on those ovals. However, we also expect some inconsistency and struggles as he learns the ropes on other NASCAR tracks.
Sawalich is one of the interesting, up-and-coming talents in NASCAR. At just 16-years-old last season, he marched to four victories in the ARCA Menards Series and caught a lot of attention. Sawalich also managed six starts in the Craftsman Truck Series for TRICON Garage, earning a very impressive three Top-10 finishes in those limited efforts. As the old saying goes "he's the goods" and a very raw, young talent. TRICON has given him another part-time opportunity to race in this division of NASCAR in 2024. Sawalich will take on nine events in the upcoming season and get more opportunities to learn and impress us with his driving. He'll be on the entry lists for less than half the events this season, but he's sure to perform when he suits up.
