2026 Fantasy Outlook
The return to full-time Cup Series racing wouldn't go quite as expected. Dillon would labor to just one Top-10 finish throughout the entire year and stumble home 33rd-place in the final driver standings. Kaulig Racing didn't exactly get the greatest of returns with this team situation but they announced that Dillon's contract had been extended in early December of 2025. Despite his over 250 starts in NASCAR's top division, a lot of things have to improve in this team situation for there to be any progress. Dillon hasn't finished better than 29th in the driver standings since the 2022 season. For the time being it looks like he's destined to be deep in the driver field each week and battling to stay on the lead lap. Read Past Outlooks
Records Another Top 20
Dillon finished 16th in Sunday's DuraMAX Grand Prix NASCAR Cup Series race at Circuit of the Americas.
ANALYSIS
Dillon has gotten off to a better-than-expected start to the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season, finishing 16th or better in each race. Dillon has now finished ahead of his initial starting position in all three races this season. Kaulig Racing is expected to be slower at more traditional oval tracks after losing manufacturer support from Chevrolet, so next week's race at Phoenix Raceway will be a real test to see how this No. 10 car will perform going forward. Dillon has an average finish of 21.2 with zero Top-10s at the track.

At the time of this writing Dillon is a free agent driver. He parted ways with Spire Motorsports at the end of the 2023 season and will now look to secure whatever seat time he can in the upcoming campaign. He's been rumored to a number of different teams that employ driver rotations to fill out their season. It looks like Dillon could be poised to run something short of the full 36-slate of races. Last year was a struggle with Spire in the team's No. 77 Chevrolet. He'd crack the Top 15 just twice during the season and finish at distant 32nd-place in the final driver standings. Dillon is a veteran of 238 Cup Series starts, but he has very little to show for over his 10-season driving career at NASCAR's top level. He'll be challenged to find quality seat time in 2024.
