Ty Dillon

After a run of seven-straight seasons racing in NASCAR's top division, Dillon returns to the trucks in 2024. The veteran driver joins the No. 25 Chevrolet team of Rackley W.A.R. for the upcoming season. This is the same truck that was piloted by Matt DiBenedetto last year to two Top-5 and 12 Top-10 finishes and a 10th-place championship standings finish. They'll tape Dillon's 13-years of competing in NASCAR's top three divisions to hopefully push this team up a level. Dillon's last full truck series season was long ago, but he did grab two wins and 12 Top-10 finishes as well as a runner-up performance in the points in 2013. Crew chief Shane Wilson will guide Dillon's efforts and the two should hit the ground running in 2024.

Dillon moves from Petty GMS Motorsports to Spire Motorsports in 2023. The veteran driver will pilot the team's second full-time entry, the No. 77 Chevrolet in the upcoming season. Dillon is a veteran of over 200 Cup Series starts in the last nine seasons. Last year was a bit of a low point for him with just one Top-10 finish, a 22.6 average finish and a distant 29th-place finish in the final driver standings. Dillon will look to hit the reset button with his new team and reverse some of these trends. Equipped with a new, second Spire team this will be a bit of an uphill climb. Dillon will partner with veteran crew chief, Kevin Bellicourt, so that will help in a lot of ways. He will partner with teammate, Corey Lajoie, so that added feedback and partnership will also help to establish Dillon with this new team. However, we don't expect any surprises or breakouts in terms of performance.

Dillon returns to full-time Cup Series racing in 2022. The acquisition of Richard Petty Motorsports by GMS Racing has opened the door to a newly merged, two-car team. Erik Jones will still pilot the No. 43 Chevrolet, and Dillon comes in to drive the team's No. 42 entry. The veteran driver spent 2021 racing a part-time Cup Series and part-time Xfinity Series schedule. It was pretty light on the starts, so Dillon was looking for a better opportunity. GMS has had quite a bit of success in the Xfinity Series and they'll hope to make some waves in season one racing at NASCAR's top level. Jerame Donley will serve as crew chief and he will work with Dillon to figure out the new Next-Gen car. Dillon's wealth of driving experience will serve this new team well.

The biggest name in the free agency pool entering the 2021 season is easily Dillon. The 28-year-old driver has 162 Cup Series starts to his credit and is coming off a 26th-place standings finish campaign. Germain Racing could no longer continue forward with the No. 13 team due to sponsorship issues and other struggles, so it sold its charter to 23XI Racing and packed it in this season. This left Dillon without a Cup Series ride and looking at new opportunities. Those have been few and far between, and as of this writing, Dillon is still searching. There are a handful of small race teams that could use an experienced driver like Dillon, but their upside is very limited and so would be the potential. He's a driver to watch closely as we enter February 2021, and see if anything significant can materialize.

The No. 13 Germain Racing team return intact for another season of Cup Series racing. Dillon posted a pretty good performance in this car last year. He grabbed a career-best three Top-10 finishes to go along with nine Top-15 finishes. It all added up to a career-best 20.6 average finish mark for the campaign. Dillon will once again be paired with crew chief Matt Borland and the two will look to continue their incremental improvement in the mid-pack of the Cup Series driver field. At 27-years-old and now with well over 100 Cup Series starts to his credit, Dillon is no longer a green driver in NASCAR's top division. The experience is noteworthy, and really the only limiting factor for this team is money and resources. Dillon and this race team should hold serve in the upcoming season.

Dillon is back for season three at Germain Racing in the No. 13 Chevrolet. Primary sponsor GEICO is also back, and that's great news for this small race team. Dillon posted his first-career Cup Series Top-10 finish last summer in the July Daytona race. That was a great accomplishment for this driver and this small race team, but there's much more work to be done. Dillon did see a slight fall off in starting and finishing position last year, and that's something that needs to be turned in the other direction. Crew chief, Matt Borland, is back for another season with the team and Dillon, and that continuity and chemistry should help. Dillon ended last season well with a pair of Top 15s and three Top 20s in the last six races. The team should ride that momentum into 2019.

The rookie campaign had many ups-and-downs. Dillon started last season hot with Top-15 finishes at Bristol, Talladega, Kansas and Dover in the spring. He climbed to as high as 21st in the driver standings by May, but that would be the peak. Dillon would finish outside the Top 20 most weeks during the summer, before heating up again a bit in the fall. It all added up to a campaign with no Top-10 finishes and a 24th-place ranking in the final driver standings. Gone is crew chief Bootie Barker, and in is new crew chief Matt Borland. The No. 13 Germain Racing team signed Dillon to a multi-year extension, so he's not going anywhere anytime soon. Dillon should take some steps in the upcoming season, but we don't expect a quantum leap of any kind. It should lead to more consistent racing and hopefully more Top-15 finishes in 2018.

The Richard Childress Racing youngster will get the big promotion to NASCAR's top division this season. He won't be racing for Rookie of the Year under that banner, but for RCR affiliate team Germain Racing. Dillon takes over the seat of Casey Mears at that camp. He'll be teamed with crew chief Bootie Barker and he'll do his very best to challenge Erik Jones for ROTY honors. Dillon has a pretty impressive NASCAR resume with four combined victories in the Camping World Truck and Xfinity Series in 164 starts. He finished runner-up in the truck series standings in 2013, and he's finished within the Top 5 of the driver standings of the Xfinity Series each of the last three seasons. At 24-years-old Dillon is a seasoned young driver making the jump to the Monster Energy Cup Series. He made 11 starts in this series last year to help prepare him for a successful rookie season.

Dillon will return for his third full season in the Xfinity Series in 2016. The 23-year-old RCR driver has compiled some nice stats over his first two years of racing in this series. Dillon nabbed a victory in 2014, and he’s combined to claim 49 Top-10 finishes over the last two seasons. It all added up to a great third-place finish in the final driver standings of 2015, but still short of the goal. Dillon will set out with crew chief, Nick Harrison, once again in pursuit of this series’ championship. It will be a tough battle with the likes of veteran Elliott Sadler and up-and-comers Erik Jones and Daniel Suarez around, but Dillon will make a strong bid.

The Richard Childress Racing youngster had a very successful rookie season in the truck series in 2012. Dillon claimed one win, three pole positions and 17 Top 10’s during the 22-race schedule. That was good enough to waltz away with the Rookie of the Year award and come within a close brush of the championship during the wild season finale at Homestead. Dillon returns to the same team and crew chief in 2013 and will shift from rookie honors to winning the championship. We expect multiple race wins and a fantastic season for this NASCAR rising star. Dillon will set the pace for this field of young drivers.
