Not Eligible for Daytona 500
NASCAR Cup
January 14, 2025
MBM Motorsports can confirm that NASCAR has deemed Wallace is not eligible to compete in the 2025 Daytona 500, despite eleven previous 500 starts and several superspeedway wins, due to lack of recent races in major professional motorsports.
ANALYSIS
Despite nearly 200 Cup Series starts of experience the sanctioning body has deemed Wallace ineligible to compete in this season's Daytona 500. He is now 65-years-old and hasn't raced at NASCAR's top level since 2015. However, Wallace has made three starts in the Xfinity Series as recently as 2020. This is a disappointing blow to both Wallace and MBM Motorsports as they were funded and positioned to attempt the Great American Race. The team will now scramble to find a replacement driver and the funding necessary to race.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2014
2008
Wallace made only 1 Cup start and 1 Xfinity start in 2015. He is a free agent driver in 2016.
Wallace tallied one Top-10 finish and a 12th-place finish in the final driver standings of 2012. He will come back for an impressive 24th year of racing in the Nationwide Series. Wallace returns to the seat of the No. 01 Chevrolet, and to basically the same team he had at the end of last year. He claimed 17 Top-20 finishes last year, so while Wallace wasn’t leading laps and picking up Top 10’s he was generally staying on the lead lap and racing competitively. We should be in for an eye-full of the same in 2013. Wallace has always been a steady performer on the larger ovals.
