The Most Popular Driver in NASCAR would log his first multi-win (2) season since 2022 but otherwise nearly match his performance from the 2024 season with 11 Top 5's and 19 Top 10's. Good consistency and good number of laps led (454) would pace his 2025 campaign. It wasn't the performance of which championships are made so he'd slot eighth in the final driver point standings, but it was a good step in the right direction for the No. 9 Chevrolet team. Long-time crew chief, Alan Gustafson, will return in 2026 and continue to build on this work with Elliott. The two have accomplished much over the years and have good chemistry. We don't expect any big moves or breakouts for Elliott so he'll once again be one of those lower "A" tier drivers in the upcoming season. Read Past Outlooks

Denny Hamlin would dominate the afternoon at the historic short track, but it would be Elliott and the No. 9 team that would flip this race completely with some brilliant late-race strategy. The Hendrick Motorsports star would short pit on lap 261 to grab valuable track position and he would battle with the leaders from there. Elliott would take the lead with 67 laps to go and would hold off Hamlin to grab his first win of the season and 22nd-career victory.

2023 was a lost season for Elliott and the No. 9 Chevrolet team. His early-season injury (broken leg) not only took him out of the car for seven events, but it totally demolished any momentum he had built in the opening races of last season. Elliott would struggle through a winless season, his first since 2017, and finish a distant 17th-place in the driver standings. The Hendrick Motorsports star will look to erase those memories with a strong 2024 resurgence, however, he'll have a long way to climb back is he's to reach the four-win, 21 Top-10 marks that Elliott averaged the three prior seasons. Alan Gustafson will return at crew chief and he will help Elliott to rediscover his groove. It will be difficult to consider him an immediate championship contender after such a rough season, but we consider a couple wins and return to the Top 10 in driver points pretty attainable goals. If any further elevation is to be made, Elliott will need to reach very deep to put himself into the 2024 championship discussion by this November.

Elliott fell short at Phoenix last November, and did not win last season's championship. However, the Hendrick Motorsports star had what many would describe as a championship caliber campaign in 2022. Elliott won five races and posted 20 Top-10 finishes, which statistically right in line with his two previous seasons. The good timing of winning during the playoffs was the only ingredient missing last year. Now that he has a year under his belt with the new Next-Gen car, we expect Elliott to find more consistency in the upcoming season. He'll once again be paired with Alan Gustafson atop the team's war wagon and the two will look to recapture the magic of their 2020 championship season. With a long-term contract extension in tow, Elliott has averaged four wins and 21 Top-10 finishes over the last three seasons. Those are dependable performance marks you can count on going forward.

The 2020 NASCAR Cup Series champion pulled up a little bit short in his title defense last season. Elliott only grabbed two wins, a bit surprising considering the large volume of road course racing, and 21 Top-10 finishes. From a consistency standpoint, it was almost identical to his average finish and Top-10 totals from his championship season. However, the campaign lacked the late-season victories that pushed him over the top in terms of the championship. Elliott should be poised for a similar season in 2022. There will still be a lot of road course racing (six events total) so the driver of the No. 9 Chevrolet will have a good opportunity to dominate. This team returns completely intact for the upcoming season with crew chief, Alan Gustafson, still calling the shots. He and Elliott have built some great chemistry in the last four seasons and they should continue to succeed as a strong pair.

The 25-year-old driver pulled the clutch performance of last season, winning three of the last five races during the playoffs and captured the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series championship. Elliott will have a tall task for an encore performance in 2021. However, we believe we've yet to see the best from this growing driver. The Hendrick Motorsports star posted five wins and 22 Top-10 finishes last season, which were career-best marks. Now we'll get to see if Elliott and crew chief, Alan Gustafson, can build on that performance. Considering that the youngster is currently the most dominant driver in NASCAR on the road circuits, you have to like his chances this season. The Cup Series will compete on seven road courses, up from the three events of the past couple seasons. That's a huge development and favors Elliott tremendously. We expect to see the No. 9 Chevrolet team winning multiple races and contending for the championship once again in 2021.

The Hendrick Motorsports star took some major steps in 2019. Elliott nabbed three victories and four pole positions en route to his fourth consecutive playoff appearance. Unfortunately, he and the No. 9 Chevrolet team suffered a collapse during the second half of the playoffs and took an early exit from the Chase for the Cup. Still, Elliott's three victories tied a career-best mark, and his 601 laps led for the campaign set a new season-best mark for the young driver. A lack of consistency was really the only major hurdle for this driver and team last season. We believe they'll overcome that problem in 2020. We should see the 24-year-old driver continue to mature, and continue to improve to the point where Elliott becomes a major contender for the championship this season. We expect to see new career-best marks in wins, Top 5's, Top 10's and laps led for this driver and team.

Elliott figured things out in a big way last season. After the breakthrough win at Watkins Glen in the summer, the young driver would stack up two more victories before the season was through. The three wins and 21 Top-10 finishes were career-best marks for the driver of the No. 9 Chevrolet. It all added up to a sixth-place finish in the final driver standings for this driver and team. Elliott and crew chief Alan Gustafson are definitely on the rise. Now with one full season under their belts with the new Chevy Camaro, things will be even easier this season. The dynamic Elliott will look to raise the bar higher in 2019, and set new career-best marks. It will all be in the hopes of challenging for the championship. With the Chase playoff format still in play this season, we can't rule this out as a possibility. Elliott is poised for stardom, so the upcoming season has tons of potential, and a very high ceiling.

The lack of victories is all that keeps Elliott from being higher in the pre-season driver rankings. However, he showed tremendous progress towards that first win and climbing into the top tier of drivers during the final races of 2017. Half of his 12 Top-5 finishes, including four runner-up finishes came during the 10-race Chase for the Cup. Despite being winless, the Hendrick Motorsports driver finished a stellar fifth in the final driver standings. There is tremendous upside with the driver of the No. 9 Chevrolet, and the fact that Elliott has not won in his first 77 starts in the Monster Energy Cup Series could devalue him on fantasy draft day. If you're looking for a driver in 2018 to make a quantum leap like Kyle Larson did last year, Elliott would be that guy. The breakthrough potential here is very sizeable.

Although the rookie didn't win any races in 2016, Elliott was far better than most imagined with two poles, 10 Top-5 and 17 Top-10 finishes in his rookie campaign. The driver of the No. 24 Chevrolet had a couple near brushes with victory throughout his first full season of racing at NASCAR's top level, so it wasn't like Elliott was way off from winning. He'll return to an intact team, and the same crew chief in 2017 to build on what they started last season. Alan Gustafson gave this young driver some great guidance and will again get to mentor with Elliott in the crew chief-driver relationship. Although most could be wary of a sophomore slump, we really don't see this driver and team in that realm of possibility. Elliott should continue his upward trajectory in the upcoming season and challenge the 10th-place finish he posted in last year's final driver standings.

With Jeff Gordon's retirement, we'll see a new face inside the No. 24 Chevrolet of Hendrick Motorsports this season. The long-awaited debut of Bill Elliott's son is at hand. Elliott is coming off two stellar campaigns in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. The 19-year-old won three races and won the championship in his rookie 2014 season. Elliott followed that up with a one-win, 27 top-10 and runner-up finish in the standings last season. He's done all he can do at that level and now he's ready to take over one of the premier rides of the Sprint Cup Series. Elliott will pair with Gordon's old crew chief, Alan Gustafson, and look to develop chemistry right away. When looking to forecast this talented youngster upcoming season, Kyle Larson's rookie 2014 season comes to mind. 6-8 top-5 finishes and 15-18 top-10s are well within the realm of possibility. Rookie of the Year honors in 2016 is a foregone conclusion.

Signed a development driver contract with Hendrick Motorsports in February 2011. Elliott will continue to race in lower racing series until he meets NASCAR's age requirements. The son of NASCAR legend Bill Elliott is carving out quite a reputation in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and USAR Pro Cup Series. Elliott will turn 17 in 2013 and inch closer to a truck series or Nationwide Series driving gig.
