Ready to face Spivac
Light HeavyweightUFC
July 3, 2026
Petrino will face Serghei Spivac in a heavyweight bout at UFC Sacramento on Aug. 22, Marcel Dorff of Heavy on Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Petrino barely defeated Steven Asplund in his most recent bout on March 14 this year, and now he'll be facing an opponent who's looking to start his first winning run since 2022. Petrino's recent results have been very good, though -- he owns a 7-2 record in his first nine UFC fights, and a win here could boost him up in the rankings. That said, he doesn't have a lot of high-end potential, as his hectic style might not work against elite opponents.

Barely gets by Steven Asplund
Light HeavyweightUFC
March 14, 2026
Petrino defeated Steven Asplund via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
This result was a bit of a mixed bag for Petrino. On one hand, he took the unanimous decision as a -230 favorite. He won the significant strike battle by a 92-61 account. Perhaps most importantly, his cardio (sort of) held up for 15 minutes, although Asplund wasn't exactly pushing a pace on him. Less encouraging was the fact the most damaging blows of the fight came from his opponent, highlighted by a Round 1 knockdown which Petrino was lucky to survive. The Brazilian is still just 28 years old and sporting a 7-2 record in his first nine UFC fights, but it's difficult to envision a scenario in which Petrino's hectic style works consistently against higher-end competition.

Petrino will now fight Steven Asplund at UFC Vegas 114 on March 14, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Petrino was originally set to fight Kennedy Nzechukwu, but the latter pulled out of the fight for undisclosed reasons. Petrino will now look to extend his winning streak to three against an opponent who collected a win during his UFC debut in December.

Petrino will fight Kennedy Nzechukwu at UFC Vegas 114 on March 14, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Petrino defeated Thomas Petersen in October to improve to 2-0 since making the move up to heavyweight. He'll now receive a chance to extend his winning streak to three against an opponent who took a draw during his last bout and hasn't won a fight since December 2024.
Remains perfect at heavyweight
Light HeavyweightUFC
October 11, 2025
Petrino defeated Thomas Petersen via KO (punches) at 0:26 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
Competing at heavyweight for a second time, it was a typical Petrino performance on multiple fronts. His massive power was on full display. He picked up a knockdown of Petersen in Round 1 and another in Round 3, the second of which face planted his opponent and ended the fight on the spot. It would go on to earn him a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus. In between, Vitor displayed his typical questionable cardio, clearly slowing down as the bout progressed. That, combined with the Brazilian's typical struggles to generate secondary offense if his power shots aren't landing, make him a risky bet moving forward.
Second heavyweight fight booked

July 23, 2025
Petrino will take on Thomas Petersen in a heavyweight matchup at UFC Rio de Janeiro on Oct. 11, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Petrino started his UFC career on a four-fight winning streak, but proceeded to lose his final two fights of 2024, which prompted a move up from light heavyweight to heavyweight. He picked up an easy first-round finish in his heavyweight debut against Austen Lane in early-July, and he'll now look to get at least one more fight on the calendar before the end of 2025. Petrino will enter with height and reach advantages over Petersen, who is an even 2-2 under the UFC banner.
